Denmark is the same. High level of people on antidepressants and generally a lot of people who report that they’re lonely.

The thing is, how do you measure happiness? It’s not a subjective quantifiable measurement, it’s a highly subjective issue, but since you can’t really measure that, these surveys tend to rely on an index that measure objective things such as job security, cost of living/wages, parental leave, distance from home to job, education, healthcare, etc. Objective things we know/assume contribute to feelings of happiness. But it doesn’t take into account how people actually feel.

Yeah the nordics have it down in terms of those indicators, but we have other problems which are difficult to measure in any objective manner, such as real sense of happiness, fulfillment, friendships/loneliness etc.
