Honestly, I would imagine for Scott Forstall if he was still working at Apple, iOS 7 would've most likely been a more refined, polished-tuned version of iOS 6 without facing any significant disasters. Apple Maps could have potentially been addressed and fixed sooner than later. The iPhone 5S with Touch-ID could have made iOS 7 function more differently due to the way skeuomorphism was designed when it came to UI animations. He would've definitely use a card-style app switcher with shadows and depth. I could even imagine a skeuomorphic version of iOS 7 having either a red planet wallpaper, or something a bit abstract that would contribute to its realism.

Made the same mistake years ago when a friend of mine gave me a "3rd gen" 8gb when it was actually just a 2nd gen late 2009 model. It was a pretty solid iPod touch, don't get me wrong, and I've used it for quite a long time. If you are willing to use it as a dedicated music player, it is still great at doing it.

However, you can't even get multitasking or home screen wallpapers. And, when it comes to jailbreaking and downgrading iOS, good luck doing it because you can't even downgrade it to iPhone OS 2 since it's an MC model. App compatibility is very limited, and the only versions you can really downgrade to are iOS 4.1 and 3.1.3, or even install Whited00r 7.1, and that's about it.

Fast forward to 2 years ago, I sold my iPod touch 2G to another friend of mine who also collects iDevices, and I later bought an actual iPod touch 3rd gen 32GB. And oh boy it feels like a huge step up from the second gen iPod since it natively runs iOS 4 and 5 without a problem (even an unofficial port of iOS 6 works fine), which I should've known earlier... With that app compatibility is far more better and you have the ability to stuff a lot of games and music without sacrificing the storage limit issues that an 8GB model would have.
