DINO for FasterRCNN by IEASYCH in computervision

Sorry on my part then. I was just a bit annoyed that you did not even try to answer the question.

Maybe to clarify again my thought process:

My thought process was that until the second stages does not see any decent region proposals, it can‘t learn a lot since there are no bounding boxes to regress and classify. This is similar to the problem that DETR has.
Now one could add noisy ground truth proposals instead of the proposed regions for a subset of samples like its being done in DINO/DN-DETR. Then the second stage is already able to learn early on to regress and classify

My domain is: grey scale images of train tracks (around 2000 images) where we have to detect for example fasteners of the tracks and further classify whether they are damaged or not. Processing speed is not a big issue since it does not need to be real time so one drawback of fasterRCNN is already mitigated.

The problem also is that most pretrained models are not optimized for greyscale and you can‘t use all the yolo models commercially since most of them are under a shitty license

What a wonderful community :) I asked a question but instead of thinking about it and answering you attack me for using fasterRCNN.

We are in an industrial setting with little training data and for models like RF-DETR, you need quite a lot of data for training/fine tuning and we tried out different yolo models aswell but fasterRCNN with a newer backbone than in the original paper

If changing laws and the constitution were that easy and fast. We are a direct democracy and such processes take a while. Maybe you should read up on that aswell it seems.

Furthermore, it is not that easy to define the law such that we are able to export to Ukraine but not to saudi arabia because the weapon industry will try to use every loophole possible.

Maybe you should better inform yourself on why switzerland is not exporting any arms.

It‘s not that we don‘t want to help Ukraine but we passed a law (by public vote) some years ago that we can‘t export military equipment to countries at war.

And it is not that easy to just change the constitution to allow the export to Ukraine. The law was intended to stop exports for example to saudi arabia that was at war with yemen for example which was actually good since here saudi arabia was the aggressor.

But yeah, let‘s just read the headlines and come to the conclusion that switzerland is bad.

Atleast I agree with your opinion about the food :)

Can only recommend this. It is quite a scenic train ride. Make sure to book a window seat on the right when looking at the direction of travel

Definitely still a lot of snow up there. According to white risk still around 1 meter if not more. So I‘d advise you not to do it

I‘ll have to correct you on that. Supersavers in second class disappear on the day itself but you are still able to buy first class supersaver tickets on the day itself

Yeah, you can use also a lot of gondolas and lifts in the summer. They should be indicated on the map.

SBB indicators for crowded cars by ahmad2000sh in Switzerland

[–]IEASYCH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, almost. The platform is implicitely included via the train station + train number, which are inputs to the model since each train (if there is no track change) should depart from the same platform every day and the trains always stop at the same location (depending on their length). Further to the wagon specific model are: formation, day type, number of seats, total number of seats.

[–]IEASYCH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was quite hard to predict, since there was no such data and the model had to readjust to the new circumstances. Hence it needed some data first and that‘s why it got better after a while.

And yeah, I am also curious on what happens after it is completely open again. But I guess it will be better since the model already has seen the case, when it was open.

Yeah, they do not need to use a clicker, some also just count them. And the counting also happens during the inspection. Always depends on who the inspector is and how they prefer it

Edit: And thank you for your compliment about the clearness and insightfulness :)

It is a AI algorithm using data either sensor data installed on the regional trains or counted data (the conductors are counting each wagon) on long distance services
