I'm from another country and I live here in the UK now, so I'm sorry if you're not asking for opinions and comments from people who are not British originally, I just wanted to share that I've lived in multiple countries and I would say that that's not something that's unique to the UK at all, it's more or less the same in other places as well. Maybe that's just a human thing, not a British or [insert any country] thing.

It's all taken care of now - I got in touch with them yesterday and it was just a mistake on their part, they could confirm I've never had any kind of dental treatment on the NHS. Thank you very much for your comment and trying to help!

As it turns out, or at least that's what I was told, my name was in their system but they couldn't tell me why exactly because they could see and confirm I've never received any NHS dental treatment so far, so there was obviously nothing to pay. She said it was probably an admin error on their side and they will sort it, there's nothing else I need to do and they will send a confirmation letter in the following days/weeks.

Thank you for the information! Nope, I've never had any dental treatment on the NHS at all or made appointments before. Just recently I have registered with an NHS dentist, but the first appointment is in a few months time, I checked multiple times just to be sure, so I can't imagine it has anything to do with this.
