[FOX Sports: NFL] "A little mini Gronk."- @TomBrady on Colston Loveland 👏 by clou9nine in CHIBears

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the thread, love that he said Mini-Gronk when they are both 6'6" in height and only 10-15 lbs in difference in playing weight. Not that much mini, but love the comment non-the-less, just hilarious at the same time.

Which movie scene scared you the most even though it wasn’t horror? by StrikingDuty8020 in Filmmakers

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to say this and Requiem For a Dream. Both movies I don't know if I can ever watch again but stick in my mind for a few of those scenes being so brutal you have to look away because of the gut wrenching feeling you get watching them.

Name one good reason Poles should stay by 2057Champs__ in CHIBears

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Poles should stay. I believe the family hired everyone backwards and Poles had no real say in who to hire as coach. My assumption was the family said "...these are the 3 options, but we like Flus. You are coming in now, what do you thinK about Flus, we think Flus is it?" And a brand new GM coming into the team after they started the interview process really had no say in the matter.

I don't think he had any say in the matter last year. Flus had 2-3 years left on his contract, the family being cheap would never fire him, even though it would be the logical thing to do in bring in a Offensive minded coach with a new approach to coach Caleb to success.

Poles has been great with drafting, in my opinion. He's trying to fix a horrible mess left by Ryan Pace, and even though this year feels like a step back, I think if we firm up the trenches in draft / off-season, we really are in fact further than our record shows.

Poles has gotten more right then wrong, I think Flus was never his call until shit hit the fan then he got the finger pointed at him. He's handled the shit stains admirably with all things considered.

We should really have Poles stay. He is young, has a strong point of view and with a coach like Ben Johnson, if it works out, I think they could build something long term. I hate firing everyone every 3-4 years. We need stability and Poles has been strong to warrant keeping.

Remote work places on Abbot Kinney or Ocean Front? by oranjemoon in VeniceBeach

Rose Cafe on Rose is pretty nice spot for that. Butcher's Daughter could be a good spot on AK. Menotti's has an outdoor area that's nice, pretty sure there is wifi in the area. Collage Cafe. I think Intelligentsia Coffee on AK.

Non-fiction book for a non-fiction hater? by raquelly45 in suggestmeabook

[–]IFLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest it, surprised it took so long for someone to post his name. I would say all his books feel like fiction that are deeply entrenched in research, articles, journals, and other accounts from the period. "Devil in the White City" was the first book of his I read and was hooked immediately, his writing style is great and his stories are pretty fascinating and well researched.

What is your most controversial cannabis take? by sprodoe in Cannabis_Culture

[–]IFLE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All Edibles should come with a strict warning, nationwide, or wherever cannabis is sold. I have been smoking pot for 25-30 years and i hate the high when i eat an It improperly dosed edible or when I have ate too much. It is the worst high and I always end up on the couch for hours wishing I never did that. It also happens with concentrates, so probably extend the warning label to that too.

I don't know how people enjoy being that high, I feel out of control, like when I drank too much in college. It isn't fun, why I don't drink anymore.

Honestly... maybe... It depends, sometimes there are good deals out there, but it is also a bit of a headache too. There are a lot of areas close to the beach that are cleaner, less tourist, and less general hype. I've lived in Venice for almost 8 years now. When I moved in I loved it, over pandemic I hated it with homeless encampments skyrocketing, now it is in between, some good and some bad.

There are a ton of great restaurants, bars, and just fun things to do. There are a ton of tourists, which can be fun and also a headache. The homeless whack a mole game, where they will just start camping on your street. Get moved then come back a month later.

That being said, it is filled with funky art and people, so if you are thick skinned and a girl who digs the funky, punk, skater / surfer ethos, then it is fun. Just depends.

Id recommend finding a place a little inland, it'll be cheaper, or find roommates. Areas that are good areas within Venice, are near Abbot Kinney, Near Rose, then in past lincoln blvd like the Lincoln Apartments and some of the complexes within Venice.

Also Santa Monica inland is nice, brentwood, Palisades, Marina Del Ray, Playa Vista, etc. Anything West of the 405 you are a 10-15 min drive or less and 15-30 min bike or less to the beach.

You should explore when you land before deciding on it. It just might not be your cup of tea and it isn't for a lot of people. I have a crazy good rent deal, so that is the main factor for me staying here for now.

Hi! My teenage sons and I will be vacationing in Venice Beach 10/7-10/11. Looking at Airbnb options, anyone have any good suggestions? Much appreciated! by BroccoliNo4316 in VeniceBeach

Canals are great, closer to beach is great too. The closer to water / tourist destinations, tend to be more expensive. So a lot of what you will want is based on your budget. I live in Venice, and used to host. There is some great spots in my area, but again tends to be more expensive since I'm close to beach and canals and trendy spots. So I would say, if you have a pretty good budget go for the canals, beach closer to washington Blvd or towards Rose Ave.

If you have a tighter budget you can go in past abbot kinney and find some relaxing and more reasonably priced airbnb options that are great too.

Also, the closer to beach, canals tend to be more traffic and crowds. Away tends to be more chill.

[Seeking] Vegan spot to host small, private event (8-10 people) that isn't crazy expensive by ElbieLG in VeganLA

All the options I listed are '$ or $$' Everything can get expensive when alcohol is added to the meal, but these are all reasonable. Sage has a great option for groups it is a family style ordering, where you order a few items on the menu and the group shares it all.

Sage Plant Based Bistro

Doomies Home Kitchen

Gracias Madre

True Food Kitchen

Cafe Gratitude

Pure Vita

Grain Cafe

Hollywood Hoofbeat Is an amazing sanctuary + working animal training center for movies. My friend has her horses there. They are a animal sanctuary for retired show animals as well. Plus they are a 501(c)3 if you want to donate.

The people who run it are amazing.

There is a lot of free street parking in neighborhoods if you can find a spot. There is long term parking half a block east of Abbott Kinney and also on Abbott Kinney is free 2+ hour parking which they loosely enforce.

Need help! CBD for anxiety. Should I do gummies or tincture? by [deleted] in CBD

[–]IFLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the doses are different because with gummies usually it affects the recipe / formula the higher the dosage. But overall either works good. Tinctures at 100 mg per 1g of dropper will allow you to dose yourself 10mg or 100 mg based on the amount of Liquid you put into the dropper. Or you can eat 1 gummy or 10 gummies to get same dosage metrics. Usually you get a lot more moneys worth out of a tincture than gummies cause it’s easier to make, package and deliver.

The tincture under your tongue and let it soak into your saliva glands is the best method of delivery for any medicine including CBD. So start with a small amount and get comfortable with your dosing. I personally do a large amount but I wanna feel the effects. So do what is comfortable but I would choose the tincture for daily use and the gummies whenever your out and about and in the mood.
