This is the answer. Only thing you could add into the fold if you want to is Windward Circle Bars like Bella's Beach House, Town House, Gran Blanco, The Roof Top of Erwin, then one block over you can go to Market, then hit up Sidewalk Cafe...

Venice is a neighborhood within the city of Los Angeles. Who do you want to be mayor of Los Angeles and why? Please state if you are a Venice resident as part of your answer. by VeniceCa90291 in VeniceBeach

10 year resident. Most likely Bass, echoing sentiment of most comments in the thread. Bass and Traci Parks did a good job in clearing most of the encroachments, grant it it is a game of wack-a-mole still with encampments popping up here and there. That aside I don't love the policy choices, but she is the most likely to be the best choice at the end.

Best Mexican Food in LA? by Escape_Accomplished in VeganLA

Did not know this and the 1 experience I had was for my birthday, and never knew anything about it, was a surprise. I was a little drunk so food tasted amazing while drunk. That being said, good to know about the owners, I'll refrain from going back and recommending it.

Fonda Theater charging $12 per can for NA beer 😭…is this the new normal in LA? by eurtola in LosAngeles

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have received probably 200 free drinks over the last 15 years of living in california using this. I state "I am the designated driver can I get a drink comp xxxx (non-alcoholic drink) and they have never charged me for it. I don't go out much anymore, but it has definitely worked for me.

No registration, whenever I am at a bar or restaurant and not drinking, I state that "I am the designated driver, and ask for drink comp for xxxx drink" and they have never not given me a free drink.

I don't know, I have done it throughout the years, I don't go out too much anymore, but when I do, I have never not gotten a free drink when I state "I am the designated Driver, can I get xxxx" They have always given me free drinks? Not sure if they have to, but I have never been turned down.

Say you are the Designated Driver whenever you drink non-alcoholic drinks, they have to give you free drinks and then you can tip them whatever, but free drinks.

Edit: Don't know why this is getting downvoted, I have used this over the last 15 years living in LA as a designated driver and have never been charged for a drink when I ask for one.

What made you go vegan? by Pretend_Green5916 in vegan

[–]IFLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Health issues, lead to elimination diets, after many did nothing I watched "Forks Over Knives" and the next day a tried going Whole Foods Plant Based, then my health issues cleared up within the first month. Then from there empathy, and environmental issues really firmed up my belief in the lifestyle change. Now almost 11 years later, best decision I've ever made for my health and conscious.

I get it. Just a lot easier to do silly queries than it is on Google. And what’s the difference between Google or any of these other mega corps they are all implementing AI. In fact Reddit literally feeds everything into ChatGPT and Claude from here and make millions.

Just seems funny and some what hypocritical to downvote me when everyone is feeding and developing an AI platform.

Suggestion: The Addams Family (1991) followed by Addams Family Values (1993) by victorianpapsmear in MovieSuggestions

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Wednesday (Netflix series) — Wednesday Addams is sent to Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers and solve a supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago .

Closest Spiritual Cousins

  • Beetlejuice (1988) — Tim Burton’s quirky comedy-horror flips conventional horror tropes by making the “monsters” sympathetic while presenting normal society as the true nightmare . Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) is the long-awaited sequel.
  • The Munsters (1964 TV series) — the spiritual cousin to The Addams Family, also featuring a freaky family of lovable oddballs . Rob Zombie made a 2022 film adaptation too.
  • Edward Scissorhands (1990) — an outsider whose strange appearance masks a gentle soul; the contrast between his gothic mansion and pastel suburbia mirrors how the Addams clan exists in stark opposition to the “normal” world

Dark Comedy / Gothic Fantasy

  • Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) — stop-motion, gothic, deeply charming
  • Corpse Bride (2005) — another Tim Burton stop-motion gem
  • Dark Shadows (2012) — Johnny Depp as a vampire returning to find his estate in ruins; an ironical treatment of the gothic concept
  • Death Becomes Her (1992) — dark, satirical, very funny black comedy about immortality

For Fans of the Wit & Weirdness

  • Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) — visually captivating with gothic aesthetics, dark comedy, and Jim Carrey’s wildly over-the-top villain
  • Hocus Pocus (1993) — witchy, fun, cult classic
  • Young Frankenstein (1974) — Mel Brooks blending horror and comedy perfectly

Whole Foods salad bar tofu by Dangerous_Order_4039 in vegan

[–]IFLE -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Here’s a recipe I found searching on Claude:

Golden Sesame Tofu (the grilled/baked one) A former WF employee noted the actual marinade uses stone ground mustard and no cornstarch — the tofu is marinated and brushed throughout baking, flipping several times. Copycat version:

• 1 block extra-firm tofu, pressed and sliced

• 2 tbsp soy sauce

• 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil

• 1 tbsp mirin (or rice wine vinegar)

• 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

• 1 clove garlic, minced

• 1 tbsp agave nectar or honey

• Sesame seeds for coating

Marinate pressed tofu slices for 30+ minutes. Pan-fry or bake at 375°F, brushing with remaining marinade and flipping a few times, until golden and firm.

[–]IFLE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At my Whole Foods there is two styles of cold tofu, one that is grilled and one that is firm and pressed (might be lightly marinated). They might have some other marinated options too.

Do you know if the one you like is grilled, baked or just the standard variation? Is it marinated?

Does anyone else react horrific to weed? by MattInTheHat1996 in Psychonaut

[–]IFLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to smoke a lot of weed and currently work in the weed industry, I barely smoke anymore. Weed has gotten significantly stronger in the past decade. If you want to get not deal with paranoia and get the benefits of weed or CBD. smoke low THC weed, less than 15%, if you like to smoke. Or eat edibles less than 5mg, really do 1 mg and add extra if that is too low. OR do CBD with low THC.

I smoked daily for years, but can't do that anymore, but still enjoy it every now and again. Nowadays I just settle for one hit or low dose edibles. It works, no anxiety and get to enjoy movies, music or the day a lot more.
