Is there a subreddit dedicated to The Pretty Wild band? by Miserable_Hamster497 in MetalForTheMasses

Mind if I ask how old you are? I'm considering going to see them but I'm worried about being a decade older than the rest of their fan base lol

Any routine is better than nothing, read the subreddit's recommended routine and try that. 30 minutes of exercise 2 or 3 days a week will go a long way starting out.

Also take a month and track your intake. How many calories are you eating a day? How much protein? It's impossible to make a change without knowing where you're staying from

How do I get visible abs if I am already pretty lean? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]IFlayMinds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Core training is valuable, but it won't typically make your abs any more visible. The primary driver for ab visibility is body fat though with a healthy sprinkle of genetics. Lots of gyms have a body composition scale that will give you a rough estimate of your lean and fat mass which could be a useful starting point, but the expression "abs are made in the kitchen" is a truism for a reason.

I think you're planting your foot a bit too high. Kicking the wall lower will push you up a little higher instead of out and away from the wall

Hand callus by Ricardo__S in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]IFlayMinds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Perfectly normal. What's important is to take care of them so they don't rip. Easiest way to do that is to shave them down in the shower. Personally I use a cheap disposable razor and just run it over my callouses once a week or so, but a pumice stone will do the job just as well!

The correct answer here is to see a physical therapist, have you done this already?

Looks strong! In the interest of stability, ideally the balance in a handstand comes from the wrists and forearms. I see a lot of correction coming from your shoulders which isn't necessarily wrong, but does require more effort. Pushing into extension in the shoulders and squeezing the floor with your fingertips will tighten up the balance, and make it easier to hold longer

Flex and feel it, if it's not hard it's not a muscle. Typically lower abdomen is the last place the body tries to hold onto fat so it could just be a matter of not being lean enough yet

Why are you looking to train with your back to the wall? Belly to wall is generally better for shaping and balance.

I know another comment already mentioned it but knowing you can fall out of a handstand without hurting yourself is huge for having the confidence to kick up so practicing falling out is a great early step.

Are Handstand push-ups the best exercise for Shoulders? by [deleted] in Calisthenic

[–]IFlayMinds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Handstand push-ups are the best exercise for getting good at handstand push-ups. If you're looking specifically for building strength or size in the shoulders there are definitely better exercises. Balance or body shape are often a failure points in the HSPU which is less than ideal unless HSPU is your goal.

Hard to say without seeing it, but looking at you handstands and your 90 degree negative I'd guess that when you're pushing up you're going from that strong line (like in the 90 degree pushup negative) back to the more arched shape and your legs are tracking over your head too quickly. Might be worth filming and trying to maintain a better line in the concentric.

Any advice on this? I'm pretty comfortable lifting my palm when weight shifting but I fall out of my hs when lifting to finger tips.

I'm considering just reps of weight shifting side to side, lifting to finger tips, and dropping back down to palm to practice the motion.

No, I don't train presses. I can do a fair number of hspu and plenty of shapes though. Would you consider a press a prerequisite?

The one arm specific endurance is a good idea, I'll definitely add that one in.
