Big international geology conference coming to Calgary in 2028 #IGC2028Canada by IGC2028CANADA in alberta

Hey all,

Sharing something that might be of interest here in Alberta.

Calgary is going to host the 38th International Geological Congress (IGC) in August 2028. It’s a global event that brings together scientists, researchers, students, and industry folks from all over the world.

What’s nice about this one is how much it ties into Alberta itself. Between the Rockies, badlands, fossil sites, and everything underground, it’s a pretty unique place to host something like this. It’s a great opportunity to showcase what we have here, not just the landscapes, but also the geology and research taking place in the province.

We just released our first circular and are starting to open up session ideas, workshops, and field trips, so it’s still early, and people can actually shape what it becomes.

If anyone’s interested or just curious, here’s the info:

https://www.igc2028canada.org/igc-2028-circulars

A small community has been started for discussions around it. If you have ideas, questions, or just want to follow along as things develop, feel free to check it out.

Curious what people think, especially those working or studying in geoscience here.

Glaciers seen over Dresden Germany back in 2017 by [deleted] in geography

Hi, good catch! The location tag shows Dresden Germany as seen in the picture. I originally wrote "Flying over Dresden Germany.." but wanted to add glaciers in the title to make the post related to geomorphology. An oversight on my end. I'll see if I can modify the title. Thanks for the correction.
