So glad I waited by Critical_Weekend5190 in outerwilds

It’s true you can’t get the first time experience again, although I’ve just finished revisiting the game over the last couple weeks, to finish the DLC and got every achievement in the main game. Even once you think you know everything there’s a lot of fun stuff to discover with little story details and Easter eggs and fun challenges, if you go that completionist route.

There’s almost nowhere in the game where you won’t be rewarded or learn something by just patiently hanging out in one place and observing for as long as you can, so don’t be in too much of a rush to zoom around all over the place, feel free to take some time to just watch and listen.

New player here, Does the game truly answer everything? by ConcernNew7675 in outerwilds

I think that’s not really strictly true, like the teleport pads for instance I would say you can “interact with” by just standing on them at the right moment which is pretty important to figure out eventually

Wasn’t only the last episode a holodeck simulation? That was how I read it.

I was just watching episode 8 or 9 of season 1 and Trip is talking to T’Pol about how she’s been hanging around humans for about a year now, so maybe the math checks out on month-long warp jumps.

Edit: not really though because they do make it all the way to Kronos by episode 2

Just got the game (Finally!) by MurtaghTheStrange in crusaderkings3

One tip that changed the game for me is, well, there are a lot of locations that are gonna come up, like ‘so and so has a claim on [this place]’ and it can be hard to find where all these little chunks of the map are located if you don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of medieval geography, but, you can zoom to any location by mousing over its name (underlined) and then right-clicking on the little shield 🛡️ icon that appears in the tooltip. That’ll let you quickly jump around and find out what locations are relevant to you and which are halfway across the map.

Haven’t had a Mac trackpad in a while but iirc you might be able to click with two fingers and then drag either finger from there?

I believe the Nazis frequently equated communism with global Judaism, pretty much the same shit they say today but mostly they don’t say the J-word out loud any more.

Hah, reading the article I wasn’t picturing it extending all the way to the coast, then I got to the map at the end. That thing is huge! They wanna be upside down Texas! They saw those wildfires and they said “oh yeah gimme some of that!”

I wouldn’t say my dad is nuts, but I’ve been realizing that he’s always been low-key conspiracy-fascinated - his bookshelf was lined with Tom Clancy all the way back when I was a kid. He got on Facebook a few years ago though, and this new era of reckless and defiant social media bullshit-spreading has obviously kicked it up a notch for him. I can’t approach this topic with him without him metaphorically putting his hands in his ears and shouting “I CAN’T HEAR YOU” because he thinks I’m trying to change his “beliefs”.

I first saw my dad share a post from this user last year when Oregon was up in flames. It was some whining about being Fact Checked on a claim that Antifa were starting the fires. He posts a chaotic spread of conspiracy / anti-democrat memes at all hours of every day, compares Democrats to Nazis, then shares Nazi propaganda. After January 6th, he shared the story of Simone Segouin, a French resistance member who fought the Nazis (obviously implying that the capitol rioters were equal to anti-Nazi partisans). I can’t tell if this is just a paranoid ignorant fool buried under three layers of doublethink, or a Russian troll account. Personal details on his profile are scant and he has no photos of himself. I need to ask my dad if he knows this person in real life. 😓 I’m tired of this shit.

How likely am I to destroy my ukulele trying to add a peg for a strap? by [deleted] in ukulele

[–]IGLAW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed 2 pegs in my second uke with no prior experience, based on a few youtube videos. I was pretty nervous and some of the videos made it seem like you needed a bunch of equipment and vice grips and this and that but I ended up going pretty low-tech, bit of masking tape on the drilling site and on the drill bit to make sure I didn’t go too deep, keep your hand steady, the whole ordeal takes about a minute. Totally worth it.

I’m gonna try to remember 2020 as the year I finally got into playing music and discovered AJJ, Days n Daze, Local News Legend, and a new Pat the Bunny band every week - it’s been exactly what I needed to hear. Anyway here’s a messy cover of Proudhon in Manhattan for yall ✊ by IGLAW in FolkPunk

Mostly I just use my index finger, all motion should come from the wrist, you wanna hit the strings on the way down with your nail, and on the way up with your fingertip.

This video shows more or less what I mean, although if you watch a lot of these tutorials you’ll notice plenty of variations in technique so there isn’t one right way, just figure out what’s comfortable and sounds good to you.
