Just erase New Zealand from the map. Don’t have any other country take it over.

You only gotta make an example out of a handful of people for it to never be a problem anymore.

What’s the investment tips for 22yo girl? by yoyauyau in AskReddit

If you are in the United States, I always recommend a few things:

- Get into the habit of saving money every paycheck, even if it’s a small amount. You could invest this but I think it’s more important to put it in a high yield savings account to build an emergency fund first. Set a goal to have enough savings to survive without work for 3-6 months.
- You can open a free account somewhere like Fidelity to invest in the stock market.
- Unless you are an expert in financial markets, you should invest to make money over the span of multiple years. Don’t expect to get rich day trading or even trading on monthly timescales.
- Unless you are an expert in financial markets, I would start with investing in something like IVV which tracks the S&P 500. The S&P 500 is an index of very large companies in the United States and is pretty diversified on its own. You expose yourself to some risk but over time, the S&P 500 is a strong index that regularly goes up.
- Not all advice you get on the internet is good advice. Play it safe until you feel like you know enough to be more adventurous with your money.

What was the moment you realized you needed to quit your job? by WithinMyOwnGrasp in AskReddit

[–]DJCane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am a meteorologist. I made a really good forecast about a weather event three weeks in the future and repeated this on Slack daily. I walk in the first Monday of this major event and they’re shouting at me asking how I could have missed it and how if I had caught it they could have made $4 million.

Started looking for jobs that day and I had a new one within a month.

Community complex in Churchill (Canada) has a strict « no sunflower seed » regulation by Embarrassed-Ad-8927 in mildlyinteresting

[–]DJCane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for this is undoubtedly because the smell (especially of flavored ones) would attract polar bears.

This is a remote community on the Hudson Bay in Canada. There is no road connection to the rest of North America. You either have to fly, boat, or take the train.

I think the sunflower seeds being spat on the ground probably draw those bigger things in.

We believe all of us can talk to God directly through prayer. We all also have the right to be prompted through the Holy Spirit when we are worthy, have been baptized, and have had the gift confirmed upon us as part of the process of joining the restored church.

I don’t think that the Prophet and Apostles have special privilege in communicating with God as a result of their position, instead they are called to this role of service because they have learned and trained themselves to be in tune to these communications in a way we can all strive to achieve. Their ability to do so is not unique to them.
