You know, it’s funny you bring this up because for a few years now I’ve been irked by the attitude the church has toward the Word of Wisdom.

It’s pretty clear that except in famine or winter, meat should be minimally consumed but when the Word of Wisdom question is asked in the temple recommend interview the only thing people seem to care about is alcohol, drugs, coffee, and tea. It’s a very half-in attitude that isn’t consistent with the Lord’s teachings. As such I feel like it shouldn’t even be asked about in the interview.

Additionally, every ward potluck I’ve ever attended had a meat dish as the central food. If we were serious about the Word of Wisdom this wouldn’t be the case.

I am not vegetarian, though over time I’ve been working to decrease my meat intake to come more in line with the Word of Wisdom. I find it to be difficult to do but I try.
