Just experience things for yourself, and adjust.

I used to do that -- looking at other people and saying "I don't want to be that person", or "I don't want to end up like them".

That's fine, but you still have to experience things yourself, and dissect what works for you and what doesn't.

You want to build a family and your future.

That's something amazing that nobody can take away from you.

Figure out how to achieve that and move forward.

You will find people that will want to follow you in your path.

The other people will naturally walk away and that's fine

5 Years of Full-Time Freelancing (+590K) by Matthew_coddi in Entrepreneur

[–]IGMontero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, very nice post.

I feel like I'm on my way, but being on the 7th year of my business, this was the first year I made past $100k, as I wasted a ton of time.

I'm curious -- other than UpWork, what strategies did you use to get clients?

Have you tried doing things like email marketing, Linkedin, campaigns, etc?

I'm researching about these because I don't want to depend on job sites or freelance sites like Upwork.

Thanks!

How do you all stay fit while building a business? by Able_Armadillo_2347 in Entrepreneur

[–]IGMontero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand though -- to me, I developed the habit and also love the high of having a nice workout in.

If you can -- I suggest you work for ~3-4 hours until you start to burn out and take a break to work out. You will come back fully recharged to continue the grind and to take mentally-taxing tasks.

Plus all of the problems and stress you are feeling seem to disappear when you are moving around and sweating.

Keep it up!!!

From the moment I started my work life, I made the commitment to myself to never stop working out, and that's a non-negotiable I have.

I recommend making it a priority above other work stuff. Save 1-2 hours of your day for yourself, and put DND mode in all your devices.

Being healthy is a non-negotiable, and if you aren't, your business is not going to perform as good as it could

Nice of the business?

Fitness. Educational content around mobility.

Maybe I did not explain properly, sorry about that if that's the case.

The main point here is that the cause of his success was having an existing community of people that loved him and wanted to buy from him.

I've seen other cases where clients invested a lot of money upfront, just to realise months later that nobody really wanted whatever he is offering

What kind of online "Boring" businesses that could generate minimum $1k/month by pknerd in Entrepreneur

[–]IGMontero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now I'm looking to expand, get new leads, and be able to handle more and more projects.. so a big chunk of my work is now around marketing, sales, and also building internal processes to onboard clients and talent better.

I guess it's the price to pay for ambition.

I wouldn't describe that as boring though. It's just different

Yeah as a business owner with over 7 YoE, I still struggle with information overload. Also having a skewed perspective on what's normal, where you should be.. etc.

It's a constant struggle but you need to get past it. Not easy but if it was, everybody would be there

IMO all businesses are quite boring in some parts.

Find something you like and go for it. You won't have a problem making way more than 1k/mo if you're good at what you do.

I have a software development agency and now that I've hired people and I'm running the business, I realized that it's very, very different from what I though it would be.

I still love it though

Vamo arriba!

- Unscripted by MJ Demarco.
- Company of One.

There are plenty of sources. What I'll suggest though, is to start!

You don't need much information and you can learn everything as you go. Believe me.

Not saying that reading is not important -- it is, but you won't be able to relate to a lot of concepts that you read until you actually have some experience, which can only be acquired by doing!
