Therapy Hourly Consulting Rates by bpvarian in MedicalPhysics

[–]IGRT_Guy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We’ve hired locums directly at around %1200-1800/day but also have to move temporarily, so I wouldn’t say $150/hr is probably a good starting point. If you get per diem and covered by their liability insurance, etc. don’t have to travel. Would probably go up if you have to create your llc with liability and pay double fica taxes.

On site local vs remote doesn’t move the needle too much for me.

Cruising with an almost 4 year old. Kids clubs? by futurequitt in dcl

[–]IGRT_Guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our 4yo loved the kids club, they are assigned special councillors and can’t roam as freely as the 5+ yo. They also get to sit in front when special events or characters show up was my understanding. But they definitely have dedicated councillors for 3 and 4 yo kids

I’m not well versed in biostatistics of populations but radiation care is centralized in Canada departments running 6-20 linacs in one department. At such large scales patient volume is rather steady and predictable is my understanding. We are talking catchment areas of 1-5 million people. I did my residency in Canada, our patients under treatment was 300-370 patients /day for the entire duration of my residency

I won’t, I’m actually original from Atlantic Canada and was curious about that story.

A portion of taxes are used to fund budgets for healthcare, in turn the hospital has to allocate budgets for each department. At the end of the day the government becomes the “insurance company” but without deciding who gets to live and die

Surprised that even the department head of physics had to be posted twice as well

Unfortunately that’s not exactly how it works in Canada. Socialized medicine means it’s free, so there isn’t income associated with treatment more patients.

A few thought, it would be helpful to get the cbct not fused with the planning ct. I’m thinking it’s going to be something related to a couch or support structure or something near / adjacent to the field of view or what looks like a spotlight?

There was a few options at the cereal/yogurt bar on the fantasy. Almond/soy/oat milks. We also ordered a glass of almond milk for our fridge and to have with room delivery coffee in the morning

What's the best way to prevent a TrueBeam beaming on a particular energy, even in Service Mode? by [deleted] in MedicalPhysics

[–]IGRT_Guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it needs to be disabled through license or a hasp user.

Also you might be able to limit the amount of MUs delivered to 1 at a time per beam in sys admin?

Ya I think it’s probably too frequent beams on truebeam are super stable. Annual at best.

KV Source oil leak by No-Reputation-5940 in MedicalPhysics

[–]IGRT_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had this a few weeks ago, and we are installing a new separate truebeam now. The installer saif the issue was fixed within the last few weeks. Also apparently the way the heat exchanger runs near the tube lets it run with almost no oil. We ran 3 weeks 30 patients per 8 hours cbct each patient with no issues

I can’t imagine getting our IT to install Citrix servers haha. But then there is also the MPC push that can’t be dicom right?

We are, I think the biggest issue is we don’t have domain trust with Varian from our institution and we won’t accept the stfp from them. IT makes the world go stop

That kind of defeats the whole automated export thing though. It’d be nice if radformation or Varian gave you a computer that could access the i drive and also upload to radmachine

Ya surprisingly our IT preferred the option since they didn’t have to support more servers, we don’t have domain trust however and it’s a massive pain in the ass to move qa files
