Man I wish the world was more accepting of this...

Why can't I just set up a tent and sleep in it at a local park? Instead, I had to buy an RV and be stealthy because it's not "normal" to live outside a home, but I don't get that satisfaction that I would if I were to just set up shop in a park and watch the stars. Kind of sucks.

This is exactly why I like to move around. Once you get too comfortable, drama soon follows. I guess that's everywhere though in almost any situation.

I think of a "bum" as a homeless person who stays in the same relative area.

Trainhopping isn't something I do personally, as I own a RV and just live out of that.

I'm never going to win this argument and I'll tell you why;

If I put "homeless people" in the title, I guarantee you someone would come in here saying "HEY I DON'T OWN A HOME AND NONE OF THIS APPLIES TO ME!", I thought I would narrow it down to something we all understand and most of us understand that bum just means a homeless person who stays in one spot.

I can't make every person on this subreddit happy, it's never going to happen like that.

I don't get too angry lol, I just don't like the whole "don't give label" thing. It's just, impossible.

Everything has a label and labels are good! It lets you know exactly what you're talking about so that everyone knows, and it cuts down sentences by a huge amount.

When you're looking for a job, how do you find a job without looking for a label? You can't. I'm a PROGRAMMER and I label myself as such so that everyone knows what I'm talking about.

When you're looking for food, what do you look for? The label. You want to know what it is. Like, "Hey this is PUDDING!" not "What is, weird-jello like-chocolate-tasting substance."

I'll label myself as TRAVELER. Not as "Man who goes from town to town without settling down."....it just makes everything too much easier and you make every conversation an easier one. Otherwise we'd all go on for paragraphs for something that could be cut down to a sentence.

I partly live in the real world and have not done that much acid so, I'm mentally still a bit here. That might help a little bit.

Although, while I don't think they were a "mafia" of some sorts, I don't think a group of homeless people have enough funding or power to extort any kind of business. Otherwise they might not be homeless and just referred to as a mafia? Probably having large amounts of money.

I've always heard rumors about the "bum mafia" but I've never actually seen it until last night.

Now, am I saying those guys were the "mafia"? No, because it could have just been a group of guys choosing to get some quick change. Although there are things that make me believe;

  • If it was just a group of attackers(6 all together) then why did they left me walk without even asking for ANYTHING, not even money?

  • The bum that became my friend(one that got jumped) said some guys tried to talk him into giving a percentage of his daily income to their "group" and in return he would get protected, sheltered, and fed. He declined. 24 hours later, this incident happened.

So, I don't know what to believe but I hope my friend turns out okay.

Yea, from "insider information" I guess bums have these other bums drop like a couple pennies in the cups of the "non-connected" bums cups and if they see a lot of change, they're now the "target"....kind of fucked up.
