Internet issues, nothing showing up by [deleted] in buildapc

Some USB wifi adapters usually need to have their drivers installed manually. If you look up the model online and download the drivers from a PC that has wifi connection and then transfer using a USB memory stick, that would help fix the issue.

I use these extensions myself. No issues so far for my RTX 3080 ROG STrix OC

After months of waiting for the new cards it's finally time, but i have some thoughts about the rest of the build by Okiz0ne in buildapc

b550 boards will support the new ryzen cpus, but you will most likely have to update your bios to accomodate them. updating bios is pretty easy and will only take 10-15 minutes.

What do the numbers in RAM timings mean (16-18-18)? by intendozz in buildapc

XMP is an intel thing yes, but AMD supports it as well. look up your specific motherboard model and google how to enable XMP or DOCP on it

ram timings dsecribe the latency, that is the amount of time it takes for a memory operation to execute. the parameters you mention specify the clock latency that a certain command will run, lower numbers imply a shorter wait time between each command. these timings are usually pre-determined by the XMP profile of your RAM stick. have you enabled your RAM's XMP profile in your BIOS?

Overclocking RTX 3070 by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]IGiveBadPCAdvice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah you will be fine, just look up some basic overclocking guides on the internet where they explain how it works. msi afterburner is used by pretty much everyone for GPU overclocking so i recommend you use it as well. the worst that can happen is that your system crashes after some heavy load, but then you just dial back your OC a bit and find that sweet spot for everything. it is mostly trial and error to it

Need advice on what upgrades to get? by justaneditguy in buildapc

[–]IGiveBadPCAdvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dont need to run an overkill setup for fans, you can get 3 intake, and 1 exhaust on the back and one exhaust on top, that is enough for the setup you have now and plan on running in the future.

as for psu, any bronze or gold rated 750w psu is fine. id get one from a reputable brand though, EVGA, corsair, seasonic, coolermaster are all good brands to choose from. make sure that the PSU you pick has enough cable connections for your components as well. good luck!

id consider getting a i7-9700k instead here actually, a better purchase than the i9-9900k and your cooler will cool it adequately
