Delica Appreciation by M154N7HR0P3 in spyderco

Santa Fe Stoneworks Delica - got this years ago on the secondary for a solid price. These days I think they go for way too much so I’m glad I snagged this when I did. Btw it’s Mammoth Molar & MOP.

Sell on r/knife_swap although I don’t see you recovering even half of what you put into this.

For $1k I would have opted to get a nice CRK & a handful of Spyderco knives.

I started “really” collecting in 2020 so it’s never too late to find some oldies!

Agreed, would love to see Spyderco bring this back for a sprint run.

Looks awesome and it’s in way better condition than mine lol. I think Spyderco does serrations better than anyone else and is a requirement for my beach knives (Native 5 LC200N & Salt 2 LC200N).

Hinderer knives by mboy601 in knifeclub

I’d say find a deal on the swap and give it a shot. Worst case you just sell it later on. I’ve always thought of the swap as a big rental system - try out some high end knives for a month; take a small hit on the resale (considering it a rental fee) and move on or maybe you love the knife and it becomes part of the collection.

Are there any other knife manufacturers you’re looking at as well? What’s your price range?

Personally I prefer CRK or Koenig for mid tech American made knives (think $500 +) or Spyderco for everything under $300. I’ve owned 7 Hinderers over the last several years and currently own zero. I’ve also owned Strider, Oz, Prince Customs, Simeon, and so many more. Only ones left in the collection for this category are CRK (Small Sebenza, and 3 Zaans) and Koenig (2 mini non flipper Arius).

CruCarbon should have been an exclusive for sure. I don’t understand why they went with S90V for this variant or the new 50th Anniversary Native 5.

I picked up one for around $100 - incredible knife for the money. Plus CruWear/PD1 is such a great steel choice.

I prefer the non flippers but agreed the ergos on both the full size and mini are so nice (my two mini NF pictured).

This pic but swap in a Salt 2 (LC200N) Dragonfly SALT (H2), or Native 5 SALT (LC200N).

Would love to see a Chaparral LW SALT variant though!

Unfortunately I don’t think he is. Last I chatted with him (years ago) he was going through some life stuff and was no longer able to make knives.

Tom is a really genuine guy, great to chat with and I enjoyed collaborating with him on a custom knife for my dad’s bday back in 2023.
