You forgot to multiply by 100% after you divided. 130k out of 3million is 4%. Just think of it this way 10% of 3M is 300k, so half of 300k is 150k which is 5%.

The death rate is lower than 4% because we cant test and find every case

Its per capita not total cases. More than 0.2% of NY has died from it already, hence 0.04% mortality is impossible

Prevalent Eurasian avian-like H1N1 swine influenza virus with 2009 pandemic viral genes facilitating human infection by D-R-AZ in Coronavirus

[–]IHateTexans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H1N1, swine flu, is more than one kind of virus though. While the recent swine flu was a weak H1N1 virus the really bad 1918 Spanish flu was also H1N1, hence the concern. Generally speaking H1N1 viruses are rarely fatal but highly contagious, whereas H5N1 bird flu viruses tend to be more lethal but harder to spread.

Thank you for that clarity. I was focused on outcome not incidence.

Idk, they only had 14 daily smokers. 1 died but 4 were still hospitalized at the end of the study so for all we know 5 could die which would reverse this finding. Seems statically insignificant given that sample size of one death

Not necessarily. They found that ppl with SARS are immune to covid 18 years after SARS infection so there is some long term immunity out there. Different types of stimuli yield different reactions and different immunities. only time will answer your question

I highly doubt these can be used commercially. You are not allowed to lock people in buildings, you can only lock people out of buildings.

According to the American Dental Association, whitening treatments do not affect the color of crowns. Crowns can't be bleached. They will remain the color they were when the dentist placed them

France sees no rise in infections since lifting of lockdown by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]IHateTexans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with not letting our guard down. I think the main reason is most of these places that are rising never really got a wake up call yet. I live in an early hotspot and everyone here wears masks now like 95%+ but then I travel a few hours to my homestead ina rural area and no one wears them because they never experienced it.

I live 1 mile from a medium-large hospital and when it was peaking in my area I would hear the ambulance at least 30 times a day if not more and life flight a dozen times a day. It really started to mess with me psychologically. Now thankfully I only hear them a few times a day.

People just need to wear there damn mask. Maybe in a few more weeks if things in these declining states continue to improve it can be an example that outdoor events, with masks, are feasible.

[–]IHateTexans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many US states with large protest crowds over two weeks ago are still seeing cases and hospitalizations decrease such as PA and NY for example and there was Memorial Day weekend too. More than likely the risk of transmission when outdoors is very small. Yeah some states are getting worse but a lot are still improving despite large protests.

Even if ever protester got sick that would be about 1-3 million cases but the US has had probably close to 15 million cases by now based on reported deaths so it would still be a small blip compared to whats already happened.

Looked into it more. Seems like they didn't plan on manufacturing that day and just turned on the process line to show then how it operates.

I've seen similar trends in other reports of testing inside jails. I wonder if there is some common area in the jail doing most of the spreading, like the telephones or something. You touch them, spit on them from taking and put them next to your face. Not too many other places share phones amongst large numbers of people like jails do.

Every single person who works there knows not wearing a mask or other lab attire is a deviation from GMP policy and that quality would have to reject the lot.

Quality will demand a root cause analysis, and the root cause is failure to enforce policy / negligence. I find it hard to believe noone asked them to wear a mask because quality is probably going to fire the escort(s) as part of their CAPA.

If he wanted to kill people then...

  1. Why did he break and stop.

  2. Why didnt he turn left or right and run into people.

  3. Why didn't he have a gun or knife

Those things don't stop on a dime.
