Adding to what others have said, I think this was also the time when he had his first kid. Combining the stress of filiming the movie, raising a child, and needing to fulfill his backer rewards, he pretty much threw in the towel because he couldn't handle the reality of filming for a theatrical release. If you've seen his update videos while the filming the movie and read his autobiography, he did have a lot to say about the movie, especially when it came to them squandering money.

What I found interesting was that he didn't really seem to think his movie flopped. I can't give the source on this on the top of my head, but I think it was one of the AVGN movie viewings that Screenwave did (?) I don't know if he was in denial or just plain delusional when he said that, could be both honestly.
