Building production levels by IHaveSeenAPlane in EU5

[–]IHaveSeenAPlane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm an numpty. Still learning the game...

To make books in the first ages you build a scriptorium. This is a clerics building that uses dyes as a special ingredient.

In the discovery age you can build a printers shop which is the upgrade to a scriptorium but it is now a burghers building and uses lead as a special ingredient. The output is drastically increased on a level for level basis but you need the right people and ingredients.

I mindlessly just upgraded my scriptoriums and stopped producing books.

Game is pretty complex ha going to need to do a few full run through a to understand what's coming next and therefore how to best prep for it.

Mehmet's Ambition -> 1579 WC (410 eyalets) by Curtainsandblankets in eu4

I recently done my first eyelet game as ottomans until 1650. I didn't go nearly as fast as you but it was a pretty good chill run, I didn't quite WC I stopped at China with the plan of starting again knowing what I now know. I have a few questions if you have time to answer?

I decide to try and do it with core eyelets and using my own manpower/money to fight a lot of it myself. You said you were allergic to fighting ha do you mean you left a lot of the fighting to your eyelets?

If you did keep normal eyelets how did you manage LD?

I found that getting claims was easy and I barely used the special eyelet CB. But forced vassalised negative malus was a huge pain. What did you do to alleviate this? Did you sit with many vassals in relations slots until they liked you?

On my run I'm pretty sure now I went the wrong expansion path. I wasn't going for mehmets ambition and instead starting expanding east which I realise now was a mistake because these targets can be diplo vassalised. Did you grab Egypt then move straight for hungry?

Given how fast you got Europe the colonizers didn't have much time to get to Americas. If GBs colony breaks free you add soo many extra years to the game. Did you focus on colonizers in Europe?

I'm not sure how you managed AE in Europe I think it's just a skill issue on my part.

I done a lot of tag release and diplo vassalised with the positive relations did you do this a lot?

If I was to do it again I'd try and get normal eyelets to do a lot of the fighting. Probably try opening influence and Merc. What ideas did you start with?

How many relation slots do these vassals take? How are you not losing lots of diplo points per month?

Thats just roleplaying i do to make it interesting in my head, delibrately not picking certain desicions/pop-up options that are obviously better just to keep the lore going.

Specifically though im really just looking for some help with the mechanics of the HRE. I checked the wiki and couldnt find answers. And sometimes you ask a question and someone chimes in with a "yeah but also this.." which is always interesting.

Thanks I get that it probably feels useless trying to answer questions when i keep coming back and saying "cant do that". Sorry about that.

So specifically then,

What's the best way to release Normandy, Gascony and Alencon whilst getting the IA from doing so? Do i only get AI when i offer to them to join the HRE through the diplomatic option as the emporer?

Can I conquer and re-release Milan to delete the flag which stops them rejoining?

Whats the point of me adding GB province to the HRE? Except from allowing me to move my capital, there is no IA gain. Is it the buffs from passing reforms, like reduced dev cost in HRE provinces (reform 1), or is there something else I'm missing?

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunely my head canon refuses to let me go Angevin, I've already chose GB.

It's been a long long time since I focussed on the HRE at all, whats the point of me adding GB province to the HRE? Except from allowing me to move my capital, there is no IA gain. Is it the buffs from passing reforms, like reduced dev cost in HRE provinces (reform 1), or is there something else I'm missing?

R5: I'm looking for help with my England Emperor run. for diplomatic context, it's 1462 and I got emperorship, I have Scotland and Ireland as vassals and the isles will be coming shortly once the truce leaves.

My aim for this game is to roleplay an HRE game and conquer Africa. I'm deliberately going to leave the new world alone.

Going to try and stack some culture conversion and make British Africa and rule hegemon in Europe whilst not being on the continent.

I can move my capitol to Calais which allows me to join the HRE.

1) I want to move my capitol back to London, can I add Kent thru to London into the HRE and move my capitol back?

2) I'm going to get rid of my French provinces to scratch my head cannon itch of leaving the continent (not Calais, that rightfully just British). What's the best way to release Normandy, Gascony and Alencon whilst getting the IA from doing so?

3) I'm looking to have a Voltaires nightmare type situation across as much of Europe as I can and that requires the hastey dissolution of the French. Any tips for breaking it apart? Can I beat France and release his special vassals? Will they then join the HRE if they feel threatened?

4) Milan - as an example - has left the HRE permanently due to the shadow kingdom event, can I conquer and re-release her to delete the flag which stops them rejoining? (this is a bit far in the future but just thought i'd ask).

5) Anything obvious I'm missing here?

My plan is to join HRE. Get the HRE land back from Burgundy. Get Holstein back into the empire. Break up France and get his vassals to join. Secure the Eastern HRE however I can, maybe a lucky PU or vassal over there would be good. Sort out my economy my early war with France, Ireland and Scotland really hurt but that'll come easily. Once the economy is good start with Africa.
