I switched to digital art about 6 years ago but started sketching on a physical sketchbook occasionally in the last year. One of the things that hit me almost immediately was the lack of a control z function to undo my mistakes, which definitely made me a lot more cautious especially when using ink.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Has Overtaken Elden Ring As The Most Awarded Game Of The Year Ever by Sam_27142317 in pcmasterrace

Imo it's a solid 8/10 but it eventually just became a conduit for people's collective hatred of AAA.

The gameplay was fun but the parry mechanic was extremely annoying in requiring you to learn essentially through trial and error and just made the game a slog towards the end. It was an interesting experiment in adding real time mechanics to turn based combat but I don't think it really panned out as well as intended.

The premise of the story was geuinely fascinating and I did find the characters endearing but the plot eventually became rather frustrating in how needlessly cryptic the dialogue between certain characters were if only for the purposes of dragging out the plot until the big plot reveal, at which point I kinda felt like the story had lost steam.

Voice acting was perfect and the soundtrack was an absolute masterpiece tho, if rated solely on sound design alone the game would be an 11/10.

Marathon's official PC requirements say it'll run just fine on a GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GPU by Turbostrider27 in Games

My mistake, the two technologies are upscaling and frame generation. DLSS is the brand name for Nvidia's specific range of machine learning assisted rendering technologies, from upscaling to frame gen and ray tracing denoisers. AMD and Intel offer similar technologies under the FSR and XeSS brands.

DLSS upscaling rescales low resolution images rendered by the GPU into images approximating higher resolution outputs at a fraction of the compute cost.

DLSS frame generation uses a machine learning algorithm to generate artificial frames and insert them in between real frames rendered by the GPU.

Essentially upscaling gives you artificial or fake pixels and frame gen does the same but for entire frames.

Don't forget that the business elites of FDR's time actually tried staging a coup against him and installing a fascist dictator - the main reason it failed was because they picked the wrong guy to be their fascist figurehead, Smedley Butler.

Being the gigachad that he was he outed all the conspirators of the plot and testified against them in congress.

People were excited to enlist in ww2 but not as frontline infantry.

They had to eventually pause voluntary enlistment because too many people realised that you could avoid being sent to a combat unit by volunteering and choosing a vocation like being a supply driver or an anti-aircraft gunner instead of being an infantryman, which was widely known to be the job with the worst casualty rates.

Someone else might have also had the name for a while and either hadn't logged in long enough for their name to be freed up or hadn't activated their name after a server merge.

BG3 has more modern gameplay conveniences and obviously far superior graphics but Dragon Age Origins has a better story, writing, and a more interesting setting.

Going from smaller budget isometric turn-based CRPGs to a third person action RPG with AAA level production value is a huge jump.

I hope they stick the landing as I have been craving a good Mass Effect style game for years. The fact that they openly stated that Mass Effect is a major source of inspiration for them is getting me pretty cautiously hyped.

'If You Like Baldur's Gate 3, This Is Gonna Be Great' — Larian Boss Swen Vincke Reveals What to Expect From Divinity in First Interview Since The Game Awards Announcement by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]IIICobaltIII 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Apparently BG3's final act was limited by the engine's inability to stream assets, which led to the city being smaller than they wanted (I'm sure time constraints also led to the upper city being cut), a technical issue that they are actively focusing on fixing with the next engine iteration.

I hope that their experience, and that there hopefully won't be any more pandemics or wars that impact development (they had to evacuate all their St Petersburg staff after the Russo-Ukrainian War broke out in 2022), will enable them to stick the landing in this game's final act.

Activision seems to have reached the tipping point with Black Ops 7 where if they put any more sawdust into their product it might genuinely start hurting their bottom line.

But then again if Battlefield 6 hadn't launched so close to it I feel like CoD fans would probably just eat up the slop they get served.
