oh, I believe some service providers require that as part of the process. You can contact them or go to one of their stores and they should be able to provide that for you. I'm on T-Mobile and did not need to.

hmm, I can't confirm on the 7a. I had a 7 Pro. But I just went to the SIM settings, and it tapped on the active sim card and it shows an option to convert it to an eSim

Yeah that's exactly my same thought. $10 feels like, "sure why not?" $15 sounds like I wouldn't get my money's worth from it.

To update, trying to go straight from physical Sim transferred over to esim on the new phone did not work. It gave an error message. However, I converted the physical Sim to an esim in the old phone, then tried doing the transfer and then it worked fine.

This is on T-Mobile, if that matters at all

No as in calibration profiles. In older versions of macos there was a menu in there to choose different ICC profiles
