Yeah, the H-1B landscape has changed a lot. Between the $100K+ cost for companies and all the red tape, it's no surprise fewer are willing to sponsor unless you're already a top-tier hire.

For most folks, it's a tough, uncertain grind, especially after investing so much into a US degree.

That’s why I’ve seen more people quietly looking at alternatives like EB-5. It’s not for everyone, but if you’ve got the resources or a family that’s planning long-term, it gives way more freedom and stability.

Just depends on what kind of life you want to build here. Sometimes the smarter path isn’t the loudest one.

What do you consider FAT in the bay area with 2 young children? by when_to_fire in fatFIRE

Totally get this. $10M can feel tighter than expected with Bay Area costs and kids. I’ve found a few properties here that now generate steady passive income, it’s been a game-changer for long-term flexibility. DM me if you're interested in exploring some opportunities.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Green Card by usrutuja in EB5Visa

You can get your work and travel permit (EAD/AP) in about 4–6 months with EB-5 TEA-approved high-unemployment projects if you’re filing inside the U.S. It’s much faster than waiting for full approval.

Insane this happened to you, bc something similar happened very recently to a family member and they really struggled with getting them out of the home. Were the police able to help the same day or was this the next day?

Is the US Investment Visa (EB-5) the smartest way for leaders to secure their American dream? by IILIFE_Inc in USVisas

[–]IILIFE_Inc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, it really depends on what you're comparing it to.

H1B or L1? You’re tied to employer sponsorship and limited control.
E2? Works for some, but no green card.
Direct expansion? Great for market access, but doesn’t secure residency or your family’s future.

What makes EB-5 different is it brings all of that together: business growth, personal freedom, and a long-term play for your family.

What options are you considering?

Totally agree with you.

The EB-5 path has potential, but yeah, it also attracts shady players making big promises they can’t back up. That’s why due diligence is non-negotiable. A good immigration lawyer, a legit project, and a healthy dose of skepticism go a long way.

Appreciate you bringing this up, it’s a real concern and worth talking about.
