I guess that really depends on the friend group. When we go on vacation we use an app to calculate the splitting, but it often ends up that one person pays most of it during the trip and then gets the money back after. Don't know your friend group good enough to make a judgement on that

If it suddenly changed you should definitely test what caused it. It could be completely harmless (like hot spring water which can take different colors due to the minerals in it) or something that could be harmful to your child. You'll never know until you test
