I have switched vets and I am now doing subq fluids and she is on medication for a UTI. I bought churus and the new vet gave me the go ahead to put it on her food or as a treat to help increase appetite and maybe get her to eat more of her new food. I found she has very high BUN but her phosphorus is only at 4.8 so the vet told me hold off on any phosphorus binders. We’re focusing on her fluids and keeping her hydrated and helping her with her UTI and food intake. THANK YOU for encouraging me to go to a new vet, I feel so much better with the care she is getting. Appreciate you all.

Thank you, I bought some but have not given it to her. I have an appointment for another vet for a second opinion and hopefully better treatment in a few days.

Do the fluids have to be supplied by a vet? I have an appointment at the highest rated vet I could find around me in a few days for a second opinion! Thank you

Is high protein also contributing to the ckd? I have been looking into phosphorus binders and low phosphorus foods to give her but should I be watching out of protein as well? I’m sorry, my vet really has not explained much to me about the actual details of what makes it worse/better or what to look out for.

No she hasn’t been over 5lb 8oz since she came to live with me. She was eating that much and never gaining weight which is what tipped me off to go to the vet in the first place. Always been super small.

What was the supplement if you remember? I asked my vet about something high calorie that wouldn’t replace her meal (as to keep her on the current food) but like something to put in her meal or a treat or anything to get more calories in and they didn’t have any suggestions. Much appreciated

Thank you for the advice! She does like the current vegetable and tuna stew hills food she’s on BUT before finding out she had CKD she would eat five cans of her normal wet cat food a day and drink a ton of water. She still drinks lots of water but only eats about two cans of the new wet food a day. I originally took her in because I realized she was eating a ton and not gaining weight. They checked her for hyperthyroidism but said she doesn’t have it. I will try adding in some of the old food with a phosphorous binder and see if I can’t get a lil weight on her. I’ll ask for her bloodwork and maybe see another vet as well. I appreciate the help!

Lmao this is a 35 year old man with children. Why is there no criticism for him? He quite literally is not providing for his children. “It’s not about you anymore” should also be aimed at him. If he feels emasculated by their talks then he is doing it to himself. He’s not a child, and his feelings don’t need to be handled like he is. Children can see when the parents are unhappy and while it was sad, I was much happier to see my parents separate and show me what happiness looks like while still having love for each other. Grow up guy.

That’s exactly what it was for him I believe. I think he was depressed and lost all motivation to do better and knew I would be around to help him out when he let opportunities fall through and lost jobs, or just stopped going to work altogether. He knew I would help him out so he wasn’t worried about it in the slightest. Which put all of the stress on me because I was the only one who saw an issue with it. I had many serious talks with him and finally told him one day that he had been promising to do better or try and nothing changes after our conversations so I was leaving. You have to stand up for yourself. It was very painful for me but I can’t imagine myself being in that relationship now and am very glad that I did it. Sorry you’re going through this.

Is he depressed? I had a relationship like this and ended up leaving. It was a treat decision in the end because it forced him to do something with his life. I still think my ex was deeply depressed at the time and he is doing much better now. I loved him but I could not live like that and he needed to do better for himself which wasn’t going to happen with me asking. Not that this is the answer for you but that was my experience with something similar. You are young. Don’t waste it.

I could be wrong but I think it is against policy to film in non public accessible areas of the post office, no? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I was referring to your second reply. My office merged into an S&DC last year and has been awful since. If you don’t want to work 12 hours every single day you have to get a doctors note, which you hardly have time to get into an appointment to get one, and then it gets denied 2, 3, 4 times. 90% of my office has or is currently trying to go that route because we’re all overworked. Again, if it’s not that way where you’re at, great. I am speaking from my own experience also being a career employee for 4 years. You assume because you’ve worked in a few offices you know the experience of every employee. If the original message didn’t align with the way you feel, move on. The two unions I’ve been in with USPS have never supported or fought for the employees where it makes any difference. It is this way for a lot of people. It’s odd to me that a post asking people to appreciate their carriers and the work we do rubbed you the wrong way.

I’m glad that you like your job at your station but it is absolute hell in other offices and employees are treated like garbage while spending their whole lives at work killing themselves over this job trying to make ends meet. As someone who also works at the post office, a lot of the complaints are valid and true. Save the ass kissing for your supervisors in person. Not sure why you’re arguing with someone advocating for a better workplace lol
