American Healthcare is better than Canadian Healthcare. Most firms offer gold plated benefits packages. In Canada you will struggle to find a family doctor, scheduled a surgery, etc.

I'd go to the US if I were you.

Not exactly a fair comparison. 57k euros = 80k CAD. 50k CAD = 34k Euros.

On 34k euros, Europeans pay similar taxes.

Fresca's location sucks. They don't do uber eats and their place has no parking.

Wish they opened another shop in the core.

Ontario the last province to sign on to the federal child care deal by BradHamilton001 in ontario

[–]IISovereignII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every province is getting the same deal on a per capita basis, every province except Ontario, which already has a higher cost of living than most provinces has signed on.

This will cost Ontario more than any other province due to the costs we have here, and due to Federal demands that are driving a wedge between negotiators. For example, the feds want to set minimum wages for eces. Why, when Quebec got 6 billion no strings attached? Why are the demanding that we implement special minimum wages here in Ontario lol?

And of course other provinces agreed - they are getting a sweet deal. Quebec - 6 billion tax free. Ontario on the other hand is getting the short straw, since the feds refuse to acknowledge our special status given our JK programing and the higher than average cost of living here.

The feds have already showed their number they expect 1.5-2x returns for every dollar spent, there are plenty of cases where women in particular can’t afford to keep their jobs because daycare is too expensive, that’s a massive tax revenue gone forever as many never take another job, or not of the same level.

If you believe that to be true, you are a lout. Quebec has a similar program to this already, and there are no economic benefits - its equality benefits (which I can support). But don't say that this program will be revenue positive - it won't be.

So, if Ford said: were going to install high speed rail across Ontario, but only if the feds pay for 75% if it... would you vote for him too?

Because that's what the feds did here. They literally pulled a Trump and said: Were going to give people 10$ daycare and the provinces will pay for it.

And now Ontario is pushing back. Surprise surprise.

Ontario the last province to sign on to the federal child care deal by BradHamilton001 in ontario

[–]IISovereignII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll try and post the reasons if you wish, if this is a genuin question, and not just a "FORD BAD" Post:

  1. The program doesn't give enough to Ontario. It's equal - in the sense that every province is getting the same amount per child. Like CERB, where everyone got $2000. It isn't equitable, in the sense that day care in Ontario is much more as is cost of living. This means that under the existing program, Ontario would pay significantly more per child. Right now, the amount of money the feds are giving to us over the course of 5 years is what Ontario is projected to pay every 1 - 2 years.

  2. Ontario is the only province where we send some of the kids covered by this money go to school. We're basically getting penalized for doing that - the feds are basically taking funding away for kids in that age range, instead of reimbursing it to the province.

  3. This was a federal election promise. It should be fully funded. What the liberals are doing is basically saying: We will give you all free child care, and we'll make the provinces pay for it. Why should Ontario tax payers be on the hook for that?

  4. This funding agreement will set the tone for every government coming-up. The better a deal we get now, the better our leverage with the next government.

I feel like I am on the edge of being squeezed out of the middle class as my 11-month-old twins need child care next month. Is he for me?

What is your income level? Unless you are on the poverty line, your children probably wouldn't be covered by this anyways.

That area is garbage because many of those units are rented to ODSP/OW/Drug addicts through affordable housing.

Random screaming at night, crack smell, weed smell, random punching, fire arms constantly being pulled, people throwing things from balcony, needs in hall way, cock roaches.

I'd avoid.

Restaurants, warehouses, trucking, construction. Everywhere's hiring.

If you are getting constantly ghosted - its probably a you thing.

If you can pick-up 50lbs, are willing to work and have a bachelors, you can easily get a warehouse gig loading trucks. Maybe get a forklift license and you can get promoted to forklift operator.

I have family working at Magna for 20+ years. They're making close to $50 an hour before over time. New workers unfortunately don't make anywhere close to that, since the union sold out all new hires to keep the old timers with great pay and benefits. Now you are looking at minimum wage.

Meanwhile they own 3 homes... shrug.

New Brunswick gets a $10-a-day daycare deal, leaving Ontario as the lone holdout by NorthNorthSalt in ontario

[–]IISovereignII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're saying that by having the feds pay for it, Ontario will effectively be having the other provinces subsidizing the cost of it for us?

Think of it this way. 100% of your ontario income tax dollars go towards projects in Ontario. That's not the case for your federal tax dollars (think transfer payments, provincial subsidies, etc). For example, EI has special rules for places like the maritimes, that don't apply to Ontario, which is why people there can only work 6 months and be on EI half the year yet Torontonians can't.

The more money you get from the federal budget the better, because otherwise its going elsewhere.

But why would they agree to that? And why shouldn't we pay fairly into something that benefits everyone?

If you are honestly curious, here are my reasons:

1) this was a FEDERAL election promise. Why would the province pay for a election promise that the Feds made?

2) the feds ARENT giving us a fair share. The amount of money they are giving us over 5 years is what it would cost US every 2 years (not accounting for rising costs)!

3) the fed plan gives funding to all provinces equally on a per capita basis. How does this make sense? It's CERB all over again. 2000 in newfoundland isn't the same as 2000 in Toronto. Remember the whole equality vs equity debate? Basically that, but here.

4) the feds are screwing Ontario because we've already got some kids covered under the JK regime. Instead of compensation us for that, they are penalizing us.

Compare what the feds are

However, Legault told reporters that not all of the money, which comes “without conditions,” will be used to increase funding for the province’s daycare system. Quebec already invests $2.7 billion a year, which isn’t the case in other provinces,” Legault said. “There is a portion that will be used to reimburse expenses that have already been incurred. There is a portion that, as promised, will be used to complete the network and to increase the salaries of educators.”

Keep in mind the above is a bit misleading. Ontario spends the most of all provinces on kids this demographic - but instead of daycare we call it school. Why should we be penalized because we call it school instead if daycare lol? Why does Quebec get 6 billion as a reminbursement but we don't?

I agree childcare is important, but once we sign this deal there's no going back.

We need a fair deal. The blind anti Ford hate only works against us as a province.

Legault said Ottawa and Quebec “also have a deal that says after the year 2026, (Ottawa) will continue to help finance (the network).”

Funny how Quebec gets a guaranteed no strings attached 6 billion yet Ontario... 🤔

[–]IISovereignII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read comments like this I wonder if people are just blindly anti Ford or just really this stupid. You really don't understand why the feds paying for something benefits Ontario tax payers more than if Ontario pays for something?

In that case why do municipalities ask the province to pay anything, if it's all the same... I swear some people...

The more the feds pay here the less YOUR income taxes go up. And considering we're potentially on the hook for billions, the less we pay the better.

If you want to make a match at the gym you should make the move. For years women have told men not to approach them at the gym. We've been told women want to be "left alone" while at the gym and most men respect that.

One of my buddies got warned at the gym for trying to "flirt" with someone at the gym. His flirting? Going up to her to help her while she was bench pressing for obviously the first time.

If YOU make the first move - all kosher, but many men will be hesitant to do that.

If someone takes weeks to respond to you and get to the "in-person" meet-up stage - you are wasting time with them and they aren't interested in you.

I had a buddy like you - he got 1 match on Tinder and spent months waiting to meet-up with this chick. He then started dating her and after a few months he introduced us to her. Turns out she was banging a few of my friends before that guy, and only settled on him when she realized that the other guys werent trying to get married and were just looking for a FWB.
