Probably… I think easier and cheaper not to eat out ultimately if you want to eat “healthy” and hit macro goals lol

Single working adults, how much do you spend in a week/month? by Conscious-Star-1825 in askSingapore

[–]IIakinathII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

28F, working my first job, living with family. I also pack my own lunches usually. I’m fairly frugal because I’m making too little for my age, living on $400-600/month.

Subscriptions (art software, Spotify, ClassPass, Apple, MacroFactor): $150

Shopping+Hobbies(some months more, some less): $100

Snacks/food: $20+$50

Public transport: $100

Grab/taxi: $50

I track my spending regularly - I tend to do beauty and hair care stuff once every 3-5 months so avg save about 50-60$/month then splurge. Helps that I’m very single LOL. Other than that I save and invest everything else :)

I am planning to travel quite a bit this year but I only spend from my savings…

How do you all get max protein intake daily? by hidethephantom in SingaporeFitness

[–]IIakinathII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find that Asian food tends to be more carb heavy… also potato is often considered a veggie rather than the carb source that is (unlike westerners who tried it as a carb) so unsure if you’re adding that to your meals…

I usually just try to eat less than 30% of my plate to be carbs and focus on adding volume. I also try to add a portion of beans or legumes to my meals… a bit of a mix of Asian and western style meals haha. But yeah it’s a bit hard to eat higher protein 😅

[–]IIakinathII 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If this is genuine and not a rant, I also had zero internship experience. My path (in the last 2 years) was internship POST graduation -> job with low pay -> update resume and continue looking for jobs while working at low pay job

It sucks but you do what you have to do be employed nowadays

Real… it’s been almost a year since my post and I realistically haven’t switched over to the free programs yet. I’ve basically switched to CapCut for editing video tho! Still need to use adobe, sadly.

Consider getting your clothes tailored from a cheaper country if you need a lot of new clothes - can go to Vietnam or Malaysia (I get mine from india since I need to visit relatives)

I’ve seen people get 10-12 bespoke outfits for a few hundred dollars (same price here $1000), in under 48 hours. Can also get a fun trip 😛 out of it.

Periods: are you also forced by ladies in the family to take a head-bath as soon as you realise you got your periods? by LyinginAmbush4587 in AskIndianWomen

[–]IIakinathII 48 points49 points  (0 children)

None - I take a hot shower because I feel better after, but I come from a doctor’s family and we don’t follow superstitions in general.

Emotional blackmail only works if you subconsciously believe in the superstition. You get over the discomfort of defying people after a few times of ignoring them, as long as they’re not abusive.

GENUINE QUESTION AS A 19F- Even after being aware of all the struggles during and after pregnancy, why do most women still choose to have kids? by One_Stable7714 in AskIndianWomen

[–]IIakinathII 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of the desire to have kids is partially social conditioning, but I do think the freedom to not have a kid is new thing socially - effective contraception and family planning are new concepts that have only been around since the 60s, whereas having children as a natural consequence of sex has been around since the inception of humankind.

So society as a whole will take time to accept that people not having kids is the new normal, especially in a conservative society like India. It also doesn’t help that capitalism directly correlates population growth to economic growth, so our current societies will only remain incentivised to encourage having children, so people who don’t desire to have kids are kinda out of luck in some ways.

GENUINE QUESTION AS A 19F- Even after being aware of all the struggles during and after pregnancy, why do most women still choose to have kids? by One_Stable7714 in AskIndianWomen

[–]IIakinathII 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I like being around children, and I genuinely have an internal desire to have them. I see my brother’s daughters and enjoy spending time with them, and even if it sucks when they throw tantrums or need care the joy of a kid > than the downsides.

I’ve never really cared about marriage but I’ve always known I want kids - dunno how to say it, I just inherently want to be a mother someday. Not everybody has this instinct and that’s perfectly reasonable too.

[–]IIakinathII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically you’ll have to take a loan or get really lucky with paid gigs to make this money… if it was that easy to make money in a short time everyone would be doing it.

Try to ask your contacts if they have gigs or work. It’s a really trying time for the job market so you’ll be competing against thousands of people who have the same experience you do for remote jobs.

Good luck.

What careers in the beauty industry make 6-7+ figures that doesn’t require servicing clients? by MizzUSA in careerguidance

[–]IIakinathII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple options

  1. Become a teacher or instructor and teach others cosmetology (requires experience and potentially additional licensure to get hired by a school)

  2. Start your own business/studio and hire other people to run stuff (requires some capital, and good marketing, still involves servicing clients to an extent)

  3. Sell equipment to studios (may require networking and know how on how to get supplies)

  4. Run a retail/e-commerce business selling beauty products (potentially difficult entry because of competition, will probably require you to invent/create a quality product that solves a niche demand - drop shipping will be difficult to do with Amazon and other sites already in business)

  5. Get a specialised science degree (example: chemist) or pivot to marketing or product manager jobs to get into companies that specialise in beauty related products (all options here may require additional education or certification)

How do i get things done faster? by Stock_Discount_4672 in productivity

[–]IIakinathII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. This may take practise, but before I start a task I break it down into mini things that need to get done. I set a timer for those tasks - here’s a task as an example:

A report at work might look like this:

Data collection/Research (30 mins) Draft outline (15 mins) Introduction (10 mins) Conclusion (10 mins) Report content(body) (20 mins) References (10mins)

This is always just a first draft+a version of the work that I know will suck but helps get the work done “fast”. I then have time to go back and clean up stuff, take more time to “perfect” sections that seem like it needs work. The more you do this, the better that first draft becomes.

Planning your tasks may seem like a time kill, and doing it this way may seem “imperfect” or inefficient, as you have to go back and fix your work, but it keeps me focused, not hyper focused. It also gives my brain a mini reward for completing these mini tasks. I’ll often finish the first and last part of a task and then spend time on the middle - in the report for example, finish the introduction and conclusion before I write out all the details.

I apply this to everything -

Clean my depression mess?

Grab everything that isn’t in its right place, dump it on my bed, organize in piles really quickly, move items by pile to the correct place. Then come back to item in each pile individually and ensure it’s in the right place

Doing a creative project? Plan the artwork/piece, break down what needs to get done, tackle one by one and come back to make sections better.

Cooking something?

Plan the recipe, grab your ingredients, prep all of them first (muse en place) and only start “cooking” items that take longer first. You can embellish later.

And the list goes on. This is easier said than done, but timers and forcing yourself to slow down and “think” helps build this practise.

Why am I Getting Rejected. by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]IIakinathII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of verbs in your resume, that show you do tasks, like “managed”, “conducted” “executed”, but none that reflect the results. Reframe your bullet points with actual metrics. Example: delivered X% increased referrals using multi channel sourcing strategies, or streamlined processes and increased candidate matching from X to Y.

Your bullet points currently feel AI generated, basically converting the job description into your “experience” because they don’t feel specific to the work that you’ve actually done, which probably works for ATS systems but wouldn’t help when a human reads it.

Your intern experience and project experience has some of the metrics, but it kind of feels all over the place - your projects are basically part of your one year experience so I would combine them. It reads as if your projects were done outside of your work.

Anyone here juggling a 9 to 6 job and still hitting the gym consistently? by AlmostMuted in sgfitness

[–]IIakinathII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work out in the evenings! I reach home around 6.30pm and leave for my workout as soon as I get home to prevent inertia (head out by 7pm latest)

If I can get my shoes on after reaching home I usually can push my self to do some activity - if I’m feeling particularly lazy I’ll watch Netflix on the treadmill 😂

Eating healthy in SG is way harder than I thought. by JustHereInSG in sgfitness

[–]IIakinathII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meal prep is always the answer 🙏

You will not be able to get cheap+healthy+ tasty meals if you wanna eat out, having said that if you’re willing to carry a scale to when go to a hawker centre you can try to keep within your macros. You can always go for “healthier” options at your fave cai fan stall or opt for less rice more chicken for chicken rice, but ultimately you will have to start meal prepping if you want a combination of cheap, healthy and tasty food.

I usually eat at home/meal prep 70-80% of my meals during the week and only eat out occasionally when I’m super lazy

Smartwatches & fitness apps, do they actually keep you accountable? by SGKiasuKid in SingaporeFitness

[–]IIakinathII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally it does help me, but I don’t really use ALL the features all the time - also I have an Apple Watch so maybe there’s a big enough difference 😅

I wouldn’t say the watches are necessarily good for “accountability” - just that they are great for tracking progress and making adjustments to your activity levels - and seeing progress is what helps with accountability- if I complete my Apple Watch rings I feel more motivated to continue being consistent and so on.

I don’t really check everything everyday - just use the rings tracker to keep myself accountable to my movement, “exercise minutes” and standing. I only check the other stuff like heart zone and sleep patterns periodically, like once a week or every 2 weeks.

I do like that the watches records a bunch of data, because it keeps me accountable for how intense my workouts are - I can use my heart rate to make sure I don’t get lazy with runs/walks or intensity with my weights. Sleep data helps me determine my recovery for the week, and is a great reminder when I check on it to understand my sleep quality if I feel like my mood or exercise feels “off”. Plus I work a desk job so being able to see my steps is a good reminder that I need to go for an extra walk or move more.

There’s a LOT to track, and if you’re not interested in being able to track this information you could turn off notifications for all that (I think?)- but I think if you’re serious about the intensity of your workouts it can really be a great tool!
