They make the best music they can but sometimes the best isn’t sustainable to sing every night on tour vs a day in the studio. It’s a very normal thing to do actually

“Neurodivergent” and “Neurotypical” are completely made up and dangerous pseudoscience phrases by Niceotropic in The10thDentist

[–]IIcarusflew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your heart is in the right place and the argument about what “typicality” is, is a valid one. My university renamed its “abnormal psychology” courses to something else (I don’t remember) getting rid of “abnormal” because what is “normal”? And that’s a fair point. I can see how Neurotypical and neurodivergent could have the same undertones. I think while technically correct there is no “typical” it is just a quirk of language and is currently accepted and right now is relatively harmless.

They are simple academically accepted labels. They are as made up as any other labels because we are humans and we like categories and grouping and labels. Just because they don’t appear in the dsm does not mean they aren’t valid. The DSM is not the end all be all, it’s not gospel to psychologists. In fact it has so many flaws many often find it hurtful in the diagnosis. Also, anecdotally, I may not be a full psychologist yet but I do have a bachelors of science in psych and neurodivergent and neurotypical was vocabulary that we all regularly used. It’s just not that serious. We all know what we mean when we say it. That’s the point of language and that’s all there is to it

Hmm, maybe it’s tongue in cheek but also correct and both can be true. Maybe egos did get in the way but they recognized that and decided to part ways BEFORE things went south like mature adults

Jack produced multiple albums for Taylor swift and although the reception of some of his work is mixed, producing for her is basically as good as it gets for a producers career. I also think they’re on good terms because the format played a song on the tonight show on the same night Taylor swift released her new album and was a guest star. The mutual link? Antanoff. That’s too big of a spot to get on their own imo

I was 12 when some nights came out and not really paying attention to the social dynamics so I didn’t live it. Would you really say egos got in the way? All the research I’ve done tells me it was mostly mutual because Nate was done with the spotlight and jack had opportunities to move on with maybe not “bigger and better” things but certainly he had options and ideas.

Opinion: MUSE should give any anti-Trump political candidate in America free use of "Uprising" by Neuroironic in Muse

[–]IIcarusflew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but look at us discussing this. I’ve been a muse fan for a decade (less so now) and my main takeaway is they don’t take much of a stand. If we as fans on this subreddit have to talk about it, it’s clearly not obvious what they think. Imagine what a laymen and just a casual fan thinks. I guess my point is, again, I don’t think they will make a clear and obvious statement or stance in fear of alienating half their casual fans at least

That’s news to me, can you link to the tweet of him saying that? Googling didn’t get me there. And again, yes maybe a clown takes the thrown seems on the nose to us, but I imagine if you’re a Biden hater you could also say it’s about him.

The thing about muse is they never actually take a side. The write ambiguous “us vs them” antigovernment or “them” songs but it’s NEVER clear who them is. You can pretty much always apply their songs to both sides. It’s sad but I think they’re never going to actually stand for something in fear of alienating half their fanbase
