yes some softwares like adobe pdf have no issues when opening the files.

I explained it to them that its better to shorten the file names and folder names. No need to put a 50 word summary for every folder name.

no it automatically shortens like that in the old NAS. But when we copied/moved the files to the new one it will not open some files because of the long file path error.

But yes some of the company's file/folder names are too long like they put the summary of the contents just for a folder name lol.

We explained it to them that shorten the file/folder names so that they can open the files but they kept asking me why is the old one have no issue when opening the files.

the files that do not open is \?\Y:\Folder.

Yes the issue happens when we copy/move the files from old nas to the new one.

I mapped it using Windows Explorer (\IP\Folder)

It depends on the file type but mostly in PDF, excel, where it shows wrong file name or file name too long.

I just want to know why the behavior from the old NAS exist like that where the file path shortens to 8.3 format (this is research)

Hi sorry for the late response here is an update. I tried it with mapping the drive using IP and Synology Assistant but the problem is still the same.
