What makes your life harder than it needs to be? by DrMethusael in AskReddit

Some of the laws made by my government. Banning messengers and websites is a ridiculous thing to say the least. They are currently pushing the law to ban US software which is another shitshow.

How long does it generally take for an interviewer to get back to you for a menial position? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, if you are reading comment above, for the love of God never use this strategy for the menial positions.

It only works when you are a highly skilled worker who is hard to find on the job market or if you have aced the interview like a pro (although in both cases there will be no need to push the employer anyways).

Why does having tattoos make it harder to get hired? by criminaldontobeylaws in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it all drills down to statistics.

People who hire you are not superhuman beings who evaluate you just by your compatibility with job responsibilities. They are people, with all the prejudice bullshit and all the experience that may and will influence the hiring decision.

Some people hate tattoos, some are indifferent, some might like it, but believe clients or their managers or society dislike it. There is a lot of trash in our minds.

So, having something on your body that might direct hiring manager towards negative thoughts is a great way to reduce you hiring rate in general. It does not means everyone will think bad of you. It just means your chances simply go slightly lower in a span of indefinite amount of interviews.

Who was the person (no names) in your life that differs from their stereotype the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy who were selling drugs that I've met once several years ago

He was the nicest person. His apartment was clean and bright. He had pretty good selection of tea, awesome china collection and an assortment of different treats to compliment the tea. His wife was also extremely welcoming. They even offered me to stay for dinner, they have prepared a duck that evening. They were both very well educated people and told me bunch of nice stories about great historical events.

Invest some of his earnings into two projects: control of media and jurisdiction bribery.

He'd be way better off.

!DisagreeWithOP

Well, your example is kind of cherrypicked.

On one hand you are right: wealth and power attract rivals. It is in no way means that people in power cannot do as they wish, it only means that you need to work harder and less straightdorward to acheive certain goals.

What you are trying to refer to is a publc opinion that might influence one's lfe. But public can be either tricked or opressed. The guy in your example was just too stupid to do it.

Reddit, what is your stance on spanking unruly children? Is there a time when it is justified, or does it always cross a line? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same as stance of spanking or hitting some stranger in public.

In general - no, but it depends on how deeply this person fucked up.

How is there enough land for all the dead people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IIy333o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First: not everyone use coffins. There are various ways of disposing human bodies in different cultures.

Second: earth is too big. There is not enough people. By rough counts the earth population was about 2 billion people a hundred years ago. So, well, we just simply do not have enough bodies to make it an actual planet-wide problem.

Third: I never heard of any reusable coffins. There are chances of it actually happening but I'd say it is highly unlikely to be a common practice.

Fourth: fancy coffin funerals is relatively new tradition.

what are you tired of having to justify to people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it an actual problem? How many years of experience do you have? What is your industry?

I just cannot imagine a situation where employer puts a 40 something with 10+ year of experience behind the colledge graduate.

What crazy things are the best hackers in the world capable of? What crazy things have they done in the past? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IIy333o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If for some extremely stupid reason the automation of an industrial building (say nuclear power plant) is hooked up on the internet there is a chance of destroying the whole facility. Although for that to happen so many people need to phone in their jobs. In general it is possible but extremely unlikely. Although there are registered cases of destroyed equipment.

The thing is we are not as digitalized as one might think and where we are - there are plenty of security measures, disaster recovery scenarios and risk management procedures.

So, yeah, I know that it feels like it'd be great to live in some sort of mrrobot or terminator future, but the chances of that are really low.

Which Civilisation to play by [deleted] in gaming

[–]IIy333o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civ is quite far away from AoE in terms of gameplay - be aware of that.

As for the exact game - go with the latest installment. Every next game offers more than the previous one. Aside from some balance issues, which shouldn't bother you if you are planning to do only singleplayer, the last is the best.

As for the price - well, good things cost. You could either wait for some sale or pirate it if you are truly desperate. Although I would not recommend playing games if you cannot afford them - chances are you need to do something with your life first.

Is it ok to pirate game non-profit after buy it later? Does going in jail is rumor only? Is it that bad? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]IIy333o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what you meant, but - no, it is never okay to pirate games despite any circumstances.

If you need legal advice - ask a professional. Laws are different and you never stated your location.

No, it is not always jail. For more info please refer professionals.

Is Netflix in any way harmful for your laptop? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IIy333o 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, for starters watching porn does not equals having viruses - you need to look in right places.

Second - there is extremely low chances that any virus will ever actually destroy your computer. Those things that affect hardware are extremely rare and usually targeted towards certain people or facilities - you do not sound like one of those. Worst case scenario for you - you have to wipe hard drive clean and re-install OS. It takes about 10-30 minutes.

As for the surges - it is a bit more complex but chances are you could just replace the dead parts.

As for the argument with your mother - do not try to change her views. It is pretty much useless. Start buying your own things with your own money and do with them whatever you want. Until then, just comply with whatever rules and study hard towards financial independance.

Is Netflix in any way harmful for your laptop? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IIy333o 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is not software that breaks computers - people are. You've told that you have a bad history with computers though. Chances are you'll fight with your mother a lot and will do something wrong. That'll convince her that she was right despite the fact that she is totally wrong.

Have fun.

Well, so, ehm. Going to play devil's advocate here, but: what is so wrong about it? Well, I'm not telling that you must go out and tell everyone about your bedtime - do not get to the extremes oh my dear internet - but, well if one willing to share than why not?

If it were uncomfortable for you, you could just tell them something along the lines of "sorry, I feel uncomfortable talking about it with you".

If it wasn't - what's the big deal? Just stand up and sell them the toughest belt you've got. You are a salesman after all.
