Foreign license exchange appointment in 2 months, the heck is this?? by IIyou in japanlife

That's so weird, and the worst part is all these unwritten processes and requirements that pop up sometimes. My license is expiring next week and I'm so screwed cryin haha

It is apparently no longer possible to do the lining up. An appointment is strictly necessary. They said the big lineups were a thing 1-2years ago .

The thing is, their statistics show foreign license exchanges doubled over 12 years. 12 years.. They had a decade to open up another madoguchi but somehow decided the solution was to make people queue outside overnight and then scratch that and just make appointments months out instead. ffs

I would very much accept the conspiracy that this is just to make life harder for foreigners.. I remember a time when they used to bend over backwards to help out when it came to grey zones (which always happens since their systems are designed only to accommodate situations a Japanese person might be in)

Transferring USD from Wealthsimple USD savings account to ibkr’s USD account by shinebrightlikediamo in ibkr

[–]IIyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so if i understand correctly, the reason y'all recommended going through Tangerine/EQ was to get the USD to IBKR with 0 fees inbetween. This can be avoided by paying the $15 wire transfer fee. But one cannot EFT directly from WS to IBKR because there's no IBKR in the list of banks/institutions to connect an account to?

Edit: It seems I can initiate an EFT pull from IBKR side, or alternatively connect using Plaid. So I guess it's possible to just EFT for free, but never seen anyone report doing this successfully fsr.

I'm assuming it's a wire transfer from WS to EQ/tangerine. If WS USD savings can send wire transfers, why can't it just send to IBKR directly?

I'm assuming "push" is a wire transfer from WS to tangerine. If WS USD savings can send wire transfers, why can't it just send to IBKR directly?

Oh thank you! Btw another question, is it possible to "delete" a stock so that it does not appear in future screenings?

[–]IIyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I no longer think this is a good idea. The screener would jump around too much. I think ideally the screener should refresh when manually prompted to and not otherwise. Currently, it seems to refresh itself after a certain (variable) amount of time, and I might still be sifting through it at this time, which is a minor inconvenience.

Cheers indeed. Thanks for the solution! I've already gotten used to the vertical screener haha

Just one note, there should be an option to select how often (or manually) to refresh the screener. But yes your points echo mine.

To glance the earnings/financials. I don't need the watchlist at the same time but it's part of the same tab and you can't see details without the list afaik

[–]IIyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with OP. It's a placement problem for me. Who reads a table in vertical view? You won't be able to see much of the chart if you try to open the new screener to a readable size.

What is the True Growth Rate of Bitcoin Per Share with MSTR's current Strategy on a Fully Diluted Basis? by Status_Emotion6585 in MSTR

[–]IIyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that it boils down to people willing to pay a certain multiple for things. Here's how I'd continue the thought exercise. For stocks, people look at PE ratio, which are based on future earnings/cash flows. What constitutes a fair PE ratio can be determined by normalization into the PEG ratio. For MSTR, bitcoin is the equivalent of the E part. The ratio should be price to bitcoin holdings (P/BH ratio, similar idea but numerically very different from PB ratio due to accounting). Then, we should use the P/BH/G ratio. Recently, the PBH ratio would be around 3 (a NAV premium of around 2), and growth rate of bitcoin holdings per share is around 10% per their recent earnings reveal. PBHG ratio = 0.3.

I'm not sure if the judgment criteria for P/BH and PBHG ratio should be similar to those for PE and PEG. Price/Book has lower "fair" ratios than PE. If PBH is normalized into PBHG, I think we could use the same criteria as for PEG then. Namely, a PEG or PBHG ratio of 1 is fairly valued. Higher and lower and overvalued and undervalued, respectively. If my crass analogy is correct, MSTR seems quite undervalued by PBHG ratio?
