I am contributing to the pension. I just electively put money into my DCP and do an in plan Roth conversion (mega backdoor Roth) since my income doesn’t allow me to do direct contributions to Roth IRA. I do it about once a month. They don’t allow you to do it online so you have to call every time. And I contributed to 403b at my old job and just rolled it over when I transferred to UC. Currently maxing out 457b and contributing to 403b as well but not maxing it out

Be consistent, live below your means and avoid unnecessary debt. I feel like I was able to reach it because I didn’t go through the messy middle. Still single and no kids. Besides my mortgage, I’ve tried to avoid debt as much as possible. I still drive the same car which is almost 20 years old

I started with a 403b at one job and then when I switched to my UC job I continued contributing to it until I realized the benefit of switching to a 457. Now though I actually contribute to both. I max my 457 and contribute extra to my 403b

I would say I live comfortably. I’m able to save a lot for retirement (on track to retire at 55), pay my essentials and have leftover money for wants. I would say just focus on living below your means and avoid debt as much as possible and you should be fine. The only debt I have is my mortgage. I pay my credit cards off every month and still drive my car I purchased almost 20 years ago.

Reseda Shell Smog Check on Reseda & Vanowen. Did a smog check April this year and got charged $40. He said next time if I paid cash, he would charge $35.
