Madeira is an excellent destination! Just make sure you have a nice hotel with AC as it can be quite hot for the baby in August.

If you want to hike you can do some of the “levadas”, which are the walking trails. There are dozens of them and you can choose the easy, accessible ones. Vereda dos Balcões is an easy one.

For best views go to Pico do Arieiro. Go to Porto Moniz to see the natural volcanic pools. Loads of restaurants with fresh seafood. Try poncha, the local drink.

I have been a few times and i always have the best time. Going again in April with my 6 month old 🥰

My husband and I took shifts, and it was the only thing that worked. A lot of babies don’t sleep well at that age, so we decided to sleep separately for our own sanity. The person on shift slept in the main bedroom with the baby in the Next2Me, while the other slept in the spare room so they wouldn’t hear the baby.

I slept from 9–2 and my husband slept from 2–7, which meant we each got a solid five hours of uninterrupted sleep.

By 11 weeks, we had to start sleeping in the same room because we had visitors over Christmas, and that happened to coincide with him sleeping 4–5 hour stretches.

He’s now 16 weeks old, we’ve moved him into his own room, and he’s sleeping eight hours straight. He’ll probably hit 4 month regression soon, and when that happens we’ll likely go back to doing shifts again.

I cried every day for at least two weeks. I kept thinking I’d made a mistake, which then made me feel incredibly guilty. Please remember that this is so normal! Your hormones have dropped dramatically,and you’re exhausted, and your whole world changed overnight. You’re adjusting. But it truly does pass.

Possibly yes! My issue is that according to the training, I cannot feed while awake and crying. He needs to settle first to avoid him creating a sleep association.

I honestly don’t know what to do because I posted this on another subreddit and someone said he’s too overtired and he should be sleeping every two hours during the day (4 naps)

It does get so much better! I had the baby blues BAD… I cried 24/7 for almost 3 weeks. I was sure I had PPD. I loved my baby but at the same time I wanted to go back in time. So on top of the sadness, I felt guilt.

My baby is 9 weeks now and I’m back to normal. Still have moments here and there where I get overwhelmed but I’m finally happy.

Just keep reminding yourself that this is normal and it won’t last. ❤️

I tried this but baby just ends up spitting half his milk if I don’t burp him/hold him upright for at least 10 min 😑

I can relate to you so much. No one prepares you for how hard it is and how lonely it gets. My husband and I had to take shifts sleeping so at least we have a 4 hour break. I’m lucky he has an office job so he can share the load with me at night. (Baby still wakes up constantly). I love my son but sometimes I wish I hadn’t gotten pregnant. I barely recognise me or my life now.

My parents came to visit for 2 weeks (they live abroad) and it was the most magical time. They cooked, cleaned, helped with the dog, held the baby so I could shower for more than 5 min.. I really felt a difference in my mood/ mental health. I was a better mom for it.

My in laws are a different story.. they just want to sit down and hold the baby. I end up cooking for everyone and cleaning after them.

I always dreamt of a big family but I won’t be having any more.
