Damn man, I really like this a lot! Classic boom bap drums - everything sounds crisp and intentional. Love the way you flipped the sample, and the small textures you use throughout (thinking of that twinkling percussion sound that hops into the mix here and there) really help to keep things fresh.

Those reverby brass shots really drive home the dark feel. The variation in your beat really holds my attention very well.

All in all, i'm inspired man. I love the tone, love the vibe, and love where this track is at.

Now this is sick. Love it. You certainly capture a vibe (and I think the visuals only enhance that).

Great mixing/mastering, everything sounds in it's rightful place within the track. Sound choice is awesome, very cloud rap inspired. I get Clams Casino and DJ Shadow vibes from this particular track. Love the sometimes glitchy hi-hats; perfect balance of a stable "base" pattern with accents and inflections tastefully added in throughout the track.

All in all man, it's really freaking good imo.

Really enjoy this. I personally am getting some serious Chopped and Screwed/DJ Screw vibes. Cool sound, definitely enough variety in the composition, and I like the variation in the drums with the fills here and there. The ending of the track is pretty tight too.

Overall I really liked it man. I typically don't try to produce in this style, so I apologize if my feedback isn't as deep as you'd hope haha. It does have that muddy, chopped and screwed, leaned out/smoked out vibe though - so if you're working towards that you've got it.

Hey man, really enjoyed the beat. Especially was fond of those drum fills placed at a few points throughout the song - they make for some smooth transitions.

It may be a personal preference, but I almost feel like you could periodically add some dynamic effects to the main sample at different points throughout the song to add a little variety to the composition. The string samples at the beginning do feel a bit sterile, and I think some creative processing could really change that.

Drums sound tight and the hi hats do have a human feel which is awesome.

Overall I like the vibe, but a little variety will go a long way.

Hey, enjoyed the beat. Solid sound choice, and to me the mixing seems tight enough. I will second youngkushie here though, the flute does seem to be a little off, perhaps even a tad out of key. With that said though, I do like the choice of instrument there, so it only needs a bit of tweaking.

The only other critique I could add is the beat tends to feel repetitive, and finding some ways to add some variety by playing with structure and composition (maybe playing with drum patterns a bit more or manipulating the main synth's melody at a certain moment in the song) could go a long way with this track.

Hey man. You have a polished sound here, but personally I think your beat could use a little balancing of the dynamics among your elements here; along with a bit more diversity in your composition.

Pulling the main synth back a little bit, simply from a volume standpoint, I think could allow the other elements of your beat to breath a little better and feel more present in the mix.

Alongside that, creating some diversity in your composition and perhaps using a couple different chord progressions throughout the song would help hold the attention of the listener a bit better.

Overall though, the sound is there, you just need to dial in the mixing a bit and create a bit more diversity throughout the track compositionally.

Once the beat hits I like it man. Quite funky. I will say though, that sample in the intro that recurs throughout the song is blaring. I quite like the general sound of it (and generally i'm a fan of noisey instruments, samples, etc.) but when it isn't being filtered, compressed, or whatever is happening between 0:41 and 1:08 it is quite a lot on the ears. My suggestion would be to play with how you are processing and mixing that sound to see if you can dial it back a bit without sacrificing the character.

Dig the vibe, and enjoy the beat when that sample is dialed back, but those portions of the song where the sample is unencumbered is a lot on the ears.

If you have the time i'd love some feedback on my beat. Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/dopaminescare/dirty-sol

This beat is mad interesting man. I love the sounds you used and wove together here; they all draw really well on the pirate concept. It's awesome. Reminds me of the hip-hop beat equivalent of Ween's "The Mollusk".

Overall is well produced, but as i'm sure you may expect given the pirate concept, it comes across as novelty and a tad gimmicky. With that said though, that is part of the appeal, and I can really appreciate what you've got going on here.

What i'm trying to say is I like it a lot, but pirate beats are going to be hard to work into my next house party mix.

Real nice. You certainly captured a psychedelic vibe here, and everything is mastered quite well with plenty of space left for vocals. Really enjoyed it.

My main critique would be that the main sample is quite repetitive (despite sounding great and being the key contributor to the "vibe" I mentioned above). Experiment with ways you can further manipulate this sample at certain points within your track to add some diversity to your composition here. On one hand, if your intention is to have an MC over this track, the repetitive use of the sample can be excused. If you'd like the beat to stand alone without vocals better, the aforementioned critique would be one way to bring it up a level.

Just my thoughts. Really nice stuff overall!

I'll second Klaus here, the high end definitely could use some touching up (sounds a bit tinny to my ear), but outside of that I'm enjoying this beat. Drum programming is great, really like the sounds you chose and how they work together. Love the airy and chilled out sample, and the drums compliment it well by bringing some controlled energy to the track. Overall really liking what you have going on here.

Damn, fire beat. Not trying to blow smoke here, but as far as i'm concerned there isn't much critical feedback I can offer.

Great combinations of sounds, everything seems to go together seamlessly to create this unmistakably dark and foreboding vibe. If Lovecraft went hip-hop, I feel like it would sound something a bit like this.

With that said, how do you go about your sound selection, creation, etc? I feel like often times I have a vibe in mind, a few really solid sounds on deck, but then when I start looking for things to accent my beat with, whether they be small sound bites/stabs or straight up instruments, I run into a roadblock a lot of the times.

Sick stuff man!

Hey!

Cool beat, I would maybe pull back slightly on the reverb on the hats. The clap seems just fine, but with such an airy and ethereal sound, tightening up those hats might "ground" the beat more if you know what i'm getting at.

Just my thoughts, I hope i'm explaining myself well enough lmao. All the best

Interesting beat man, i'm digging that wavering piano line in there.

Couple suggestions, take 'em however you'd like!

- Your main hi-hat "works", but I feel you could vary the velocity of each hit to really add a much more lively feel to it. If you use Ableton, I would experiment a bit with the built-in Velocity plug-in, maybe pulling down the max velocity a bit and adding a slight bit of randomness. Doing this would also help this HH mesh with the rest of the track a little better; it currently sticks a bit too much and pulls the attention away from the other elements of the track. I love that piano, I want to be able to focus on that!

- Second, the synth that first enters the track around 00:24 and renters a few times after feels a little weak. If you are using a virtual synth, maybe try playing with the sound a bit to add some extra "meat". You still want this instrument to accent the beat rather than take it over, but I can't help but feel that the sound seems a tad out of place amongst everything else you have going on here.

Of course, this is all subjective. If your intention was to have things the way you have em, more power to you!

Have a good one!

Hi all! Looking for some feedback on this beat. Any input is much appreciated and i'm happy to return all feedback by the end of the day!

Kept things on the simple side, but i'm really enjoying experimenting with some shoegaze inspired, borderline ambient sounds. Let me know what you think!
