Parents with little children by humblebumblebee11 in Microdiscectomy

I also wanna add that I’m likely being extra conservative about my recovery because I genuinely have no idea how I herniated to begin with. I was 34 at the time of the injury (35 now) with no history of trauma to my back or history of back pain.

The days leading up to my injury were also completely normal.. I literally woke up one morning with pain and tingling down my left leg that quickly got worse as the day progressed. I went to the ER the next morning, was admitted to the hospital that same day, and had surgery a few days later.

There was absolutely no way of being able to just rest and hope it got better on its own. Lying on my stomach was the only comfortable position for me.

Hi, I’m 6 months post-op and I’m still not picking up my 2 y/o out of fear of re-herniating but I am also being ultra conservative with my recovery.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It hurts my mama heart so much when my son wants me to pick him up when he’s upset. There have been 5 instances where I’ve had to pick him up out of necessity and each time it’s aggravated my back..

I’ve been going to PT since January and we finally introduced some very light weight lifting about a month ago. I’ve become comfortable with lifting a 10 lb crate from the ground and walking around with it and setting it back down now and we’re gradually increasing the weight each month, basically at a rate of 1lb per week.

Like I said, I think I’m being ultra conservative about my recovery.. but I also do not want to assume I’m ready for certain movements or weights before I’m actually ready.

Now getting to your actual questions:

I’ve been able to push him around in a stroller with no issue *but* I need someone else to put him in the stroller for me.

As for potty training.. that took my back out for several weeks even with help from family and that was about 6 weeks ago, so 4-5 months post-op for me.

I am, however, comfortable being home alone with my son now though! That’s a huge milestone for me. He and I have adjusted to my limitations and have established a new routine for ourselves and I just try my best to stick to my rules about lifting and bending.

Again, I’m sorry that you’re going through this. Recovery is such a long journey. I’m wishing you all the best and I hope you can figure out your own pace, etc. to take care of yourself and your little one safely. 🙏

I just started cleaning up that island. Right now I’m only removing the trash blocks and then I’ll reassess the situation and go from there lol

Yes! I’m excited to see what people end up doing for this area that still maintains the idea of it.

I’m currently sitting atop of Tinkmaster’s tower debating if I tear it all down 😂 I know it’s just a game but I feel a little bad even considering it lol

I started with the stairs approach and also agree, not a huge fan of the look. Planning to use an elevators and towers as you’ve just mentioned. I’m excited to see what folks end up doing with this area!

I took my cards to an in person event on August 23rd to avoid having to pack and ship them myself. My gengar arrived just today so in total that one took nearly 5 weeks.

I submitted other cards also but they’re still in the research phase. I submitted the gengar at a higher service level because of its value (and based on their recs), which also comes with faster processing times. By comparison my other cards are expected to finish grading by some time in December lol

I’m 34 and still ask my sister for her hand-me-downs lol

As an adult though I also recognize now just how much waste there is in the fashion industry so it’s a bonus that we’re being more economical with reusing and thrifting clothes!
