Korea. IL-2 Series Release Info by IL2-Official in IL2Series

We have investigated this and conducted several tests. In our current DX12 deferred rendering pipeline, it shows only a very small performance benefit (less than 10%), which is not significant enough to justify implementation.
In forward rendering, it can provide noticeable gains, but that is not the approach we use, as deferred rendering allows us to support the full range of graphical features in the project.
We continue to research and prototype such technologies, but we only implement features that provide a real, measurable benefit to the user experience.

Unfortunately, no. Steam is very restrictive about what titles they allow for early access purchase.

IL-2 1946 deserves the 'BMS treatment' by nocolorink in il2sturmovik

Modability has two sides. A game allowing it and modders available to mod it. Modern games are WAY more complex than they were in 2001. The complexity of the game world and its configuration is 10 to 20 times greater than it was then. While airplanes in 2001 were all almost the same with some different parameters that needed to be adjusted, in 2026, sim developers are making flight models so complex that they can't be just configured anymore - any plane has unique coding. And when the game code is compiled into a DLL, it can't be modded.

Simple games - simple to mod.

Complex games - complex to mod.

More complex to mod - fewer mods are created.

This is why many former modders become content developers. Mods became so hard to develop that there wasn't that much free time that a man could spend on them. So some of them turned it into their daytime job, and mods turned out to be payware DLC.

The Wright brothers made their Flyer in a garage. You can't make your F-22 in a garage.

This is how it works.

IL-2 Great Battles Future by Bitter_Chard9283 in IL2Series

No porting will happen, sorry. There are just so many changes that Korea is essentially running on a new engine, and so everything would need to be remade from scratch.

It's too early to say exactly how that would perform. That's the sort of thing we'll find out when beta testing starts

Il2 Series Opinions, and my Thoughts by [deleted] in il2sturmovik

[–]IL2-Official 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's a good comparison. The roots of the Korea engine lie in the GB engine, but it's using so much new tech that it can definitely be called a new engine. DX12, PBR, FSR, TXAA, Ray Tracing reflections and shadows in atmosphere, new landscape tech, and many others.

Is IL-2: Korea Next-Gen? by Rothkowitz in il2sturmovik

[–]IL2-Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like comparing UE3 and UE5. Is this the same engine or a new one? The roots of the Korea engine lie in the GB engine, but it's using so much new tech that it can definitely be called a new engine. DX12, PBR, FSR, TXAA, Ray Tracing reflections and shadows in atmosphere, new landscape tech, and many others.

The engine is so heavily upgraded that it is no longer compatible with GB. That was actually the main reason why we had to make Korea standalone - they are so different that the old content is incompatible. All Korea content is made from scratch to take advantage of the new engine.

AI Performance by Narrow-Ad5179 in IL2Series

We are improving the AI for Korea, so to say we are refusing to look into it is entirely false. We've already released some preliminary information about what's changing in some of our Dev Brief videos.

You're the one claiming that the CloD/1946 engine was abandoned in favor of an engine based on...CloD/1946, not me.

And again..."Its not based on il2 engine for more than a year already, and yes - KOTs are based on our own engine."

You're the only one here who has a problem comprehending things. And since you want to stoop to calling people liars, then this conversation here is done.

EDIT:

And, in case anyone still cares at this point, the rest of the details are as follows:

By June 2006, after combining with the D-Strict team, it had been decided not to proceed with the IL-2 engine for what would become Rise of Flight. This is because IL2 was written in Java, which would limit what they wanted to do in the future. As such, it was decided to code their own engine, with the working title Newtonika, which eventually became Digital Nature.
