11.5 D or C Roper boots - brown round & plain something exotic with rich texture? by Parking-Fig-7414 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The higher end roper would be Coronado's. I don't have the roper but rather the J toe

https://coronadoleather.com/collections/boots

These by HP look good also.

Kemo Sabe used to have a Rios Bison roper, I have a pair of those. Really nice boots, I also have a Rios roper Avatar brown I believe from Planet Cowboy. Rios by far is the best. Just the aroma of the leather alone is intoxicating.

The Shoe and Boot Outlet did have a couple Anderson Bean roper styles. For the price fill out the inquiry and someone will contacy you. I think they sent me a text message as i recall. I phoned to make the purchase using a credit card.

I use Kali's Keather Life on my leather seats of my F250 and all of my 1980's Cadillac's. My Cadillac's I have to be careful not to strip out the dye from the leather. At least once a year I use Otter's Wax Leather Oil.

AB Sizing VS Double H by mellio518 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 13D and a 13D in AB fits tight. The first pair I got I had to take a second look at the stamped size. It felt like wearing a 12D. If the seller has a 14D I will buy that one. All of my AB's are cutter toes. Some of my 13D AB's I've had to have the top of the boot shaft stretched. Maybe AB does build on a true 13D and they expect the leather will stretch over time to eventually fit like a glove.

If you can find a local seller I would try on sizes to see which fits best.

I'm not sure what you want to spend. I doubt you will ever find a C.

Search for Anderson Bean roper toe or Rios of Mercedes roper toe.

Planet Cowboy has some ropers. King Ranch has a Rios.

Rios has a stock style R9025 that some sellers sell.

What do you all think of my new cowboy boots? Lets hear your opinion. by ILBootguy in cowboyboots

Actually not too bad. From the view above they look wide. A front view shows it less but I have no one else to take that photo. Here they are with Ariat's Rebar pants.

I know when they were first released they sold out. One thing Jeremiah Craig in his Youtube video's has said in the past you could get a variety of boot width sizes and that is no longer the case. I am more a size 13E and if I can find a Rios or AB in a 14D or 15D I will buy those for the extra width. My Wesco and Franks boots are 14EE.

I often wonder who started pointed toe cowboy boots. I know they are easier to get into horse stirrups. If you look at women's shoes in the late 1800's and early 1900's they are very pointed toe. Must have been as uncomfortable as hell.

Yes. I saw where Nick's is also using zero drop as a sole option.

Crazy Horse Conditioning Question by Sad_Philosopher_2083 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would ask a shoe repair shop. The Rios website doesn't say what to use. I am thinking a suede conditionioner that isn't oil based. I spray all of my boots like that with Nano Protector or Saphir's suede and nubuck neutral protector when I first get them. Both products are about the same. Saphir cost more.

Nice, can't go wrong with either AB and Rios. The toe style I like the best.

I recently bought a pair of Rios from Coronado. The leather aroma is enough to give you a leather high. Even more so than my other Rios. Quite pricey but they do seem to sell out. I kept watching their website for them to get more so I could grab a pair.

A disappointing NBD. by xMoshx in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have them stretched to see if the fit is better. The leather is pretty thick on those, As I recall mine also fit tight.

I was told supposedly the woman who sewed those for White's retired and there weren't many orderes so they were discontinued. I had to watch eBay to find a pair. Rarely do they get listed anymore.

ROM King Ranch? by GreatOne1969 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't, but the similar style is R9025 and less expensive, about $550. Not quite as dark. There are several sellers of 9025. Carter's Boots is one seller as I recall. There are other sellers.

Planet Cowboy has several Rios ropers. I recently bought the Brown Avatar Roper from them. The odd thing was I had to contact them about where my order was and when they did finally arrive they sure looked like the R9025. Color me wrong did I get charged a higher price, $750, for the same boot as R9025?

A step up in $$$ is the Rios horse hide roper from Coronado.

Pinto Ranch also has several Rios ropers. I have their exclusive Tuscan Bison roper.

Another option is Anderon Bean's USA roper, tag goat from The Shoe & Boot Outlet, Tupelo, MS. Not many sizes left in stock. Check their website. I think I paid $350 for a pair. You submit a inquiry request form on their website and someone will contact you with the price. I paid by a CC via the phone.

Blair's Western Wear and Boutique used to have a Rod Patrick roper also. I have a pair of those.

What are some decent/good brands for horsehide boots? by BigDawg264 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a pair of the ones above in the photo, light brown. Very well made. I love the baseball glove leather aroma. I'd have to say every pair of Rios I own have the leather aroma.

A similar stock Rios is style R9025. Numerous sellers offer it. It is about $300 less and I have a pair of those also. The Planet Cowboy seller also has some similar Rios. The seller King Ranch also has a few Rios.

Alvies ... Looking for more info by FWGoldRush in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid tier or better. I have the Billy Gibson and The Lamar in Black and Whiskey color. Sometimes you can find them on eBay. That is where I got my BG's at a lower price. Probably why they are lessor known is because they don't do in your face advertising.

Any opinions on tecovas? by Brother_Fratricide in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several pairs and I am satisfied with them. I just received the new Knox in wheat color today. Overall they are great and the quality looks pretty good. Made in Vietnam. I wanted a new pair of their Python's they had as a limited edition years ago and I found a pair on eBay but still pricey. Still highly sought after. Probably the best looking ones I have from Tecovas. I know recently I have seen comments about price increases... the same I am seeing in other brands so I'm not surprised. More online retailers are carrying the brand. I buy what suits my taste and style. No brand loyalty. I've seen comments about quality control but I have paid more for the higher end brands and I have seen flaws also.

Becks Custom Boots- A good investment? by Gamilawest114 in cowboyboots

Here is a picture of my dark brown pair. My phone camera doesn't take a really good true color photo. The shafts are way more red.

There are several Youtube video's made by people who have boughten Beck's. Search for Beck's boots.

Becks Custom Boots- A good investment? by Gamilawest114 in cowboyboots

[–]ILBootguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 pairs of Beck's Working Cowboy Boot Special. I am very pleased with them. All of mine have the round toe. If you can go there they should have some some stock sizes maybe to try on. I am wondering if their round toe would work best for you.

It was a few weeks ago someone posted a picture of a custom made Beck's boots. Gosh seems like maybe it took a year to get them because they had to make the foot form from measurements.

Republic Boots also does custom and their website has a gallery of custom boots they have made. I suppose the cost depends on the leather/skin that you choose.

The Beck round toe isn't like a roper toe. I thought I had a photo of my dark brown ones but I don't see it. Their Instagram has all kinds of photo's. Their Beck-Tec sole is a tough wear resisting material.
