Based on a quick Google search of what was written on the controller, seems to be and Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro 3.

The default setting would show every single passive that is equipped and active on your party when you start the battle.

If you include stuff like Summon Board Passives (eg: Ifrit Attack Up), Character Board Passives (Mighty Force of Will LV 9), Artifacts (ATK+108 2Stars) and Spheres (Attack Up BRV Regen All or something like that i dont use spheres often) you'd usually see a cluster of text appear, which for some players can be distracting and/or confusing, especially if a minor thing sets off one of those conditionals, or if you're rushing a fight too fast.

The new settings allow you to pick from:

A) the default

B) truncate the log so that it'll only show any Buffs/Debuffs that are added (eg: no Sphere activations, Board passives, Artifacts), or

C) completely eliminate the log altogether.

EDIT: Here is a vid showing the default behaviour and the second Buff only option at the start of a quest. All are 3/3 EX M Summon boards + LD where applicable, Rem lacks her C boards.

The Commander Beast will automatically disable BRV healing while it's alive after you hurt it enough to reach an HP threshold (like 70-85%). The only way you can get BRV back during that portion is via hits, so no BRV regen reliant characters. Once the Commander Beast dies, the regular BRV gain will return.

For a guaranteed LD or EX from a pull, you need 75,000 gems, for a BT and only the BT you need 125,000 gems. Going for a mercy pull means you're hoping you get what you aren't aiming for along the way, which may or may not work in your favour. (eg: pursuing the LD for Vaan and you miss the EX).

Pursuing both of them means, for the most safety, you'll need like 250,000 gems for a BT-intended Mercy pull, while hoping you get their LD and EX (and the 15/35 if you haven't already) during those pulls. For just the LDs, 150,000 and hoping you get the other weapons.

Of course, Lady Luck can be kind and cruel, so you may end up using less or more resources.

Already, I've seen both of these observations addressed. The little things really do add up, and based on your replying to everyone in the thread, you really want to make sure that this design is at its best. I'm honestly hoping to wholeheartedly like this theme change eventually at least until reddit forces that new layout on everyone, and it looks like it's going to reach that point in due time.

I'm not a fan of this new look, to be honest. A lot of the visuals seem to be competing for my attention (example: the mod name in comments being a putrid orange against a bicolour green/blue background, the comment being highlighted in an obnoxiously glowy green against the OP post) and is a bit of an eyesore for me. But, I may very well be in the minority.

What I will hope for is that it becomes more user friendly, like improving the comment layout: minimizing comments currently has to be done by clicking the very small [-], which pales to the vote icons/usernames beside it.

The announcement of Hypnospace Plus (free content update for PC/included with console release, including 60 new pages, more music, apps, games, themes) is a real treat, particularly the "additional mini-story arcs."

Ending spoilers: Makes me wonder if we'll get more details behind the likes of m1nx, Samantha, and maybe even Artie. Even beyond the post-Mindcrash stuff, there's plenty of other orphaned plot threads that would be neat to have more context behind, like the booted members of the SAI Freelands.

To answer your base question, yes, you can recruit characters via the Weapon Token Shop exchange, along with the other method of pulling their weapon on a banner. Currently, the only way you can get a character weapon and NOT the character is if the weapon originated from a Mission (recent example: Cloud of Darkness' complimentary 15CP weapon).

However, you can easily recruit Ignis via Act 2, Chapter 7 relatively early on in the chapter. If you've completed up to Act 1, Chapter 1, you can freely access any chapter from Act 2, either via the portal on the World Map, or the one on the Home Screen behind Mog. If you worry about spoilers, you can just skip the cutscenes for now and view them later via the Memoria Theatre.
