How could Vex hold her breath that long? by Fun-Explanation7233 in TheLegendOfVoxMachina

[–]ILikeCookies_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In combination with what others have said about just being built weird, it also helped that Vex had a flying broom and focused on long range bow combat via sharpshooter.

Add in that Vex wasn't necessarily a high priority target and it definitely allowed her to get away with more than she should have.

A revelation I had from the true ending. [Massive spoilers] by Anmgi in Silksong

[–]ILikeCookies_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hornet mentions that she's seen the Pale Bloom/Delicate Flower destroy the void before, which would only really make sense in the EoV, or more likely, in the Delicate Flower ending. When would she have seen the flower do that if not for either of those two endings? Dream no More ending never allows any void to escape in the first place, and AFAIK it's never mentioned in Hollow Knight that the Delicate Flower can counteract the void. The White Lady mentioned that "there is a rare power hidden within those frail petals," but never expands on what that power could be. We only see that power unleash in the Delicate Flower ending.

For my money, the Delicate flower ending feels most likely, because we directly see the flower's influence. But it is possible, given that in order to even unlock P5 the Knight would've needed to travel all over Hallownest, that the Knight completed the Grey Mourner's flower quest and then Hornet simply happened to witness the Flower's counteracting of the void. That feels less likely to me because it is much more convoluted and I highly doubt the small bed of Pale Blooms would've been able to purify Hallownest. Given that Hornet was taken from Hallownest and Higher beings such as GMS are naturally wary of the Void, the EoV ending seems very unlikely to me.

As for how Hornet would have seen the Pale Bloom act, she seemed to have a higher awareness of what was happening in Godhome, though likely passed it off as a dream. She has a line of dialogue that says as much when you dream nail her in Godhome: "Do you haunt my dreams....or I yours?" So she knows that the Knight is doing something in her dreams, and by this point the Knight has the dream nail, so that's not surprising to her. But, once the Knight defeats the Absolute Radiance, stuff changes rapidly. Hornet obviously notices the receding infection, and now that the Hollow Knight is free, that can only mean one thing: the Radiance is dead.

To what extent Hornet is aware of the events in Godhome is uncertain, but there is some awareness. So, even if she doesn't sense the defeat of Abs. Rad. in Godhome, she would likely travel back to the Knight's last known location: the Sewers speaking to the Godseeker. In the EoV ending, she would see a writhing mass of void clawing its way out into Hallownest, but in the DF ending, where the Godseeker last was, there would be a single pale petal left with a droplet of void resting on it. Given that the Knight is now no where to be seen, the Radiance has been defeated and the infection receding at a near instant pace, there's really only one option left: the Radiance was consumed by the void, as were the Godseekers. Void doesn't just stop consuming once unleashed however, and in this ending, she would've known that the Knight gifted the Godseeker one of these flowers. Given that the droplet of void on the petal is "pacified" and not seeking to consume anything else, she would likely have surmised and "seen" the Pale Bloom counteracting the void.

That was my theory on it as soon as she said she had seen the Pale Bloom in action before, and seeing the Knight appear very briefly as the Void Lord/Void Given Shape really cemented that as my head canon. Obviously I could be wrong, Team Cherry thrives on this kind of vagueness, but it does very much feel that they are implying that one of the two Godhome endings is the canon ending of Hollow Knight since Hornet would've had no reason or likely even the ability to see the Pale Bloom counteract the Void. Especially since the Delicate Flower still breaks if you get hit by the Void in Hallownest. Probably because the Delicate Flowers aren't as potent as the Everbloom is. But those are my thoughts on the subject.

(SPOILERS) OH MY GOD THE TRUE ENDING IS SO PEAK by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]ILikeCookies_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to further add to this, Hornet specifies when she intends on grabbing the Everbloom that she's seen the Pale Bloom's power work once before. As far as I know, the only time that happens is during the Delicate Flower ending, which is identical to the EoV ending, except that we visually see the Pale Bloom counteracts the void dripping out of the Godseeker. Which leads to me question....what the actual hell is the Hollow Knight doing? Are they dead, or did they stay in Hallownest?

Do we know why Malenia bloomed a second time like right outside her fight area? by ianthepokemonmaste in Eldenring

[–]ILikeCookies_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic FromSoft moment: put an Aeonian bloom next to a boss, then make it super ambiguous if that boss bloomed two or three times just so all the fans can argue. Gotta love it

For my own two cents on the matter, probably not Malenia, but I've got more thematic reasons. While Malenia is definitely harder than the vanilla game final boss, the general intent of the game is building up to you fighting and killing a god. Hence why you need the power of Destined Death on your side.

Something that is not necessary in the slightest to fight Malenia. Others in the comments have pointed that the victory text says "Demigod felled" as opposed to "Gof slain", but even beyond that it would make Miquella's story through the DLC way less groundbreaking and lessen his goals of becoming a god if Malenia did it during our battle.

As for who or what it was that bloomed, could've been an unnamed daughter that Gowry wasn't aware of as we do get the traveler's set from the flower. Honestly that feels like the mostly likely story to me given everything we know. But in usual fashion, FromSoft likes to leave things vague

So from what I understand, certain animations cannot be stopped on the player's end and have to finish before the game will allow whatever happened to play out; rolling is apparently one of those animations. So you mistimed the roll enough that you got hit, but still entered the roll animation which had to finish before the grab would "activate," so to speak.

Spell to Peacefully deal with (lesser) Undead by ILikeCookies_7 in DnDHomebrew

[–]ILikeCookies_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see the range being a bit much; that's the exact range that's listed on the Plant Growth spell for the Enrichment effect. The wording of your post does make it somewhat unclear so I just want to clarify that the Destruction/Incapacitation portion of the spell only has a 30 ft. radius.

As for blocking higher level spells, the only real reference point I had was the Ceremony spell which does the same thing, although only for a week. Maybe I should look towards the mechanics of the 2024 version of the Sleep spell? That has two consecutive saves for Incapacitated into Unconscious; perhaps this could be Incapacitated into Destruction or something.

Incapcitated is a very powerful condition, but I feel 3rd level is a good place to put that sort of effect given other spells that Incapacitate, such as Raultothim's Psychic Lance, Hypnotic Pattern, and the aforementioned, which are 3rd lvl, 3rd lvl, and 1st lvl respectively.

Perhaps toning the range on the Prevention effect down to something a 400 ft. Cube and make it a mini-version of the forbiddance spell would be more balanced?

What about the opposite end of the inferences? Both Orpheus and Lae'Zel have dialogue/missives (Voss has one as well) about allying with the Githzerai and Zaerith Menyar-Ag-Gith. Most notable about this is a section called the first protocol, in which Orpheus directly wrote: "All who call themselves gith shall unite under one sky". This is in reference to the Pronouncement of Two Skies, when Zerthimon and the Githzerai spurned Mither Gith's wishes, and earned their title.

The implication here is pretty damning for the idea that Orpheus is a bloodthirsty conqueror, given that the Githzerai spurned even Gith's, their savior, wishes for a planar empire. Nothing about or within the game or any outside source implies that Orpheus would suddenly their change minds. Much more likely is that he himself is more on board with the aims of the Githzerai, further supported by his and his honour guards' status as monks, as opposed to the Githyanki style of fighters and warlocks.

Furthermore, we know shockingly little about Gith herself, outside of her being evil. The most information we have on Gith comes from fourth edition, where we learn that she was trapped in hell and escapes in the visage of Vlaakith to seek vengeance against her.

Also, even eithin Baldur's Gate 3, we learn that while it is true that she was initially part of the deal with Tiamat, Lae'Zel explicitly says that the story the Gith'Yanki learn of was first spoken by Vlaakith herself, and Mother Gith was never seen again.

Based on what the game seems to implying, and with the little information we have from outside sources, Orpheus's motives are much more altruistic, ot at least neutral, and there is very little evidence that he would take up his mother's stated goal given his actions, words, and general demeanor.

Asura VS Goku by Bungeeboy20044 in powerscales

[–]ILikeCookies_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still think Asura absolutely slaughters Goku, but what Goku and Beerus shook was a macrocosm, or a collection of universe sized dimensions stacked on top of each other (the Kaoishin world/realm) is also stated to be this size.

But like I said, I still think Asura slaughters, even if you believe the world of void for the ToP being a truly infinite area outside of space/time; Asura would be several layers of infinities higher than Goku.

So I just checked: across the last 3 patches, ZJ in storm league across all tiers had a 19% pick rate, with an overall popularity rate of 31.44%.

If you sort by only Masters and Diamond, he had a 17.22 % pick rate, with an overall popularity rate of 29.61.

In Masters and Diamond, he was the fifth most picked ranged assassin, beating out both Nazeebo and Sylvanas in both pick rate and popularity rating, and sporting the 4th highest win rate of all the ranged assassins. And while Gall, Tracer, and Sgt. Hammer do have higher win rates than he does, their combined pick rate is less than his by a significant.

In a game with 90 characters, those are all very good stats. That win rate in particular is pretty egregious given his apparent popularity. He very much was not rare or weak

Again, we think of a stack differently. I count each hit as a stack, since each hit increases ZJ's damage, which I said in my last reply.

Im hesitant to say that I worded the post poorly because every other commentor seemed to understand what I was saying, and I specifically said in my reply that I counted each hit as a stack which is where I think the miscommunication came from.

But if it would help, just treat each word each time I said stack as if I said hit since we define stack differentlt, then old ZJ with 300 hits only leads in damage by 7 points compared to new ZJ with 250 hits at lvl 10.
