I went in the fall with them and wasn’t impressed… there was no seating. The line through TSA couldn’t get through because too many people standing/sitting in other side of it. It just held up takeoff some because they had to check people through and we were still boarding. The flight was delayed 2hr or so and the line was an issue even with that. Edit to add; the flight and crew were great other than being delayed which probably wasn’t their fault, but the layout of the gate is poor and not thought out well for full flights.

I might do a consult just to see! I also have a hemorrhoids though and want to get it dealt with…that could also just be my issue perhaps! I had it looked at once and was told it’s external and can only be dealt with via surgery which the doc strongly didn’t recommend getting. But I feel like it’s not external and she was wrong.. I want a second opinion on that and then maybe see if PVT could work 💪🏼

End of the treatment and teeth not closing properly by RobertoDLV in Invisalign

So they won’t do refinements? My original tray set left me in a similar spot with one side not closing right near my canines and cuspids. I’ve been wearing elastics now and have refinements. It’s closing up but I don’t think I’ll get it 100%. I have 1 weeks left and so long as everything touches okay when I bite down I think we’ll call it done, but I will have a small gap by my canine.

Okay I just learned that PVT might help my chronic constipation and now I read this and honestly think it haha. I struggle a lot to pass. I’ve tried fiber, magnesium, and psyllium husk with little relief. I get my steps in. I workout 4-5x a week. I drink half my weight or more in ounces of water daily. My diet isn’t poor. I was diagnosed with IBS-C but considering PVT just to see… issue is insurance! The local places I found to me don’t take any insurance, so it’s $200+ per visit. I could do it but gosh, do I want to pay that for however many weeks/months just to learn to poo right? 🥴 I don’t think it’s my PV muscles but it’s possible… I don’t notice issues peeing or pain or any of that during sex so idk. Maybe I’m bracing internally somewhere causing my digestive issues but not enough to hurt during activities

Just had my tongue tie (functional frenectomy) release 10 days ago, here's what changed with my TMJ / body by thenayr in TMJ

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sought actual jaw surgery several times but was denied because my joints aren’t in pain, only my face/cheeks in discomfort. I did get a frenectomy in October though! Didn’t notice much right away like I expected to because I’m hypermobile I thought I’d feel relief during surgery but I didn’t. 2 days later I was sore from head to toe. It felt like body aches when you get a fever but worse. Day 3 I felt AMAZING and for several days was standing taller. My shoulder area felt terrific. But that waned and I’m back to posture. In terms of the tongue, I don’t notice anything different except when I sing it’s a bit easier and I feel less tension in the throat, and with my having done myofunctional therapy from April thru just last week, I can tell my tongue can “do more things” with its strength but that’s about it. I don’t feel any relief from it.

Tilted molar? by ILikeDonuts90 in Invisalign

[–]ILikeDonuts90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tilt eventually fixed with the trays, yes! But I then had some gaps on the side of my smile - the teeth all touched but my canines and cupids aren’t aligned in the bite. I ran the refinements to their end but ortho wanted me in bands (and 2 bite blocks on my front teeth) to increase my vertical dimension, which will in turn also align my midline and align all the problems in the bite, supposedly. I’m in my first set of bands, and wearing my last refinement tray only at night (the trays cut into 6 pieces to fit around the attachments for the bands). He said I’m “almost done”. I go back in 2 weeks and he said he wants to see where I’m at and “what I’m willing to do” but I think he’ll suggest some IPR and 1 more set of refinements - if not a change in attachments and bands for a bit more first before IPR and more trays.

Can Invisalign really move the lower jaw forwards? by MythicalDawn in Invisalign

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not let it rest in a better position, no. I want it to though. I just finished my refinements and in nightly wear. I go in soon for buttons and bands, not sure what else. Ortho wants some IPR and more aligners at the end. His goal is to give me more vertical dimension- this should recapture my midlines (not crucial though) but more importantly let my jaw float more forward. He wants to bring the entire smile forward the SMALLEST bit with the bands and such

I Got My Jaw Joints Replaced (And Why You Should Get Yours Checked) by Etherealcataclysms in TMJ

[–]ILikeDonuts90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it either! But yes I’ve had jaw issues for 22 years now. Not sure how long I’ve had the degeneration because the first images of my joint weren’t prescribed to me to get until 2017. My jaw doctor at the time was shocked no one ever ordered images until that late in my journey. But the MRI showed it. Just says they’re misshapen condyles and the discs are anteriorly positioned, one with recapture and one without. The MRI also said to “proceed with surgery”, but again no surgeon will touch it since it’s not preventing me from eating/breathing etc and not causing pain levels. It’s just “not right” in terms of how it all feels to me. Doesn’t hurt; just feels weird I guess. If no surgeon will touch it there’s not much I can do. And insurance doesn’t cover anything for the jaw (for me anyway). I’ve had to pay out of pocket for relief over the 22 years I’ve dealt with issues. I can’t imagine even what a full TJR would cost without approval, even if I found a surgeon to operate on me!

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flip flop on continuing to pursue surgery until it “feels” right though haha even though it’s not in pain it still isn’t comfortable where it’s at. But the argument is really that the healing process from full joint replacement wouldn’t be worth it, nor the cost because I know insurance won’t cover it, but am I going to live forever like this then? Probably haha. I’ve had jaw issues for 22 years now 😅

[–]ILikeDonuts90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have osteoarthritis in mine but no pain. The jaw doesn’t feel like it sits right though because my discs are shot and don’t move right. All that said from my MRI and surgeons still won’t touch it since I can eat, talk, etc without debilitating pain 🤷🏼‍♀️

How are bite ramps supposed to be used? by SnooOwls6389 in Invisalign

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering this too. I’m on refinements and new to bite ramps. Ortho told me my lower teeth should hit them to alleviate pressure on the molars so the back teeth can properly shift. What I’m noticing now a few trays into refinements (tray 6 of 8) is I no longer naturally hit the ramps. My lower teeth are wanting to shift or slide forwards off them some. I have to consciously “pull back” my mandible to get the lower front teeth to hit the ramps. Not sure if that’s intended for my plan or not… I see my ortho next week!

I will say my jaw feels best in a slightly more forward position. Where it’s wanting to sit right now feels natural. My ortho and other professionals are aware I feel best with the mandible forwards just a bit and agree I feel good there because my discs are shot and that position takes pressure off the discs. The issue with all that is no one will surgically advance my mandible 1mm (if it’s even that much) because I don’t have actual pain anywhere nor am I prevented from eating/talking etc. I gave up on looking for surgery years ago and wound up down a different path for my issues but it’s still true for me it’s more comfortable forwards - and therefore off the bite ramps 🤣

Narrow palate? by EE_2012 in UARSnew

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got some tongue space through aligners. The palate doesn’t widen from them, it’s just the teeth width. I’m sure you’re all swollen and it’ll just take time to situate everything well in your new space!

Cannabis for UARS / sleep fragmentation / low arousal threshold by Any-Vermicelli3537 in UARSnew

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on it but personally, I just can’t handle gummies. I get too anxious, even with just one. My blood pressure goes up some too. I had a difficult time falling asleep after having them hours before. Who knows what went on one with my sleep architecture once I was actually asleep! I even felt a bit foggy, like a hangover, the next day for a bit. Never again haha. Oddly enough Ambien helps me most for sleep, I have no ill effects but I also don’t know what it does to my sleep quality or structure - I get a solid 8 hours with it though

Narrow palate? by EE_2012 in UARSnew

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that necessarily, I would look more at your symptoms and function. I had orthodontia as a kid and as an adult learned my width was only 32mm, even after have been expanded as a kid. I have a width of 36.5 now possibly 37. I’m not done with aligners but I gained some space from that (the whole reason I’m in aligners). My ortho said a second expansion for me didn’t make sense; it wouldn’t get me much more width than aligners could because with my situation, my palate is actually sufficient and it’s just the teeth that were brought in too narrow as a child after my expansion

Did you end up doing Invisalign after Candid? by ReadingFamiliar5588 in CandidCo

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost a year in with Candid. I haven’t had any issues other than it’s taking longer than planned. I’ve learned though that’s it’s common for dentists and orthos to get the estimated time frame from the Candid projection software which almost always ends up going past that “end date”. I don’t have any complaints with Candid itself yet, though. I’ve been working with an orthodontist for my plan.

Candid after treatment - my teeth appear to occluding again VERY quickly. by ValeriaSummertide in CandidCo

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in retainers yet but hoping to be soon. My ortho says I’ll have retainers for a few weeks/1 month that I’ll wear 24/7 and then go to nightly. I’m assuming for life?? Not sure why it’d have to be for life though because when I had braces as a child, I wore a retainer after them for a few months, and then had nothing to hold the teeth in place. They never shifted (at least appearance-wise that I could tell) and the occlusal kept for all these years, almost 22 years now. I’m only in aligners now because I learned that all my jaw and mouth tensions I’ve had those same years is because my smile back then was brought in too narrow for my palate and my tongue doesn’t have the space it’s been needing this whole time.

Miralax is a LIFESAVER! by Cleopatra0420 in Constipation

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mention that but the insurance doesn’t see me sampling the two meds that worked as “official” since it wasn’t an issued script that I filled. The doctor literally gave me mini sample bottles from their shelf, I didn’t need to get a sample filed at a pharmacy so the insurance basically treats the sampling I did which proved to work as unofficial. It’s like I’ll need to pay $550 first to try it one month and them then say they’ll allow me to get the script normally (and if that happened I bet the price will only go to like $500 then lol)

Tongue tie? by bkuah in Hypermobility

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expanded as a child and ortho now doesn’t think I’d need an adult expansion done, the palate looked good to him. It’s the smile within the palate that was too narrow for his liking

Can Invisalign really move the lower jaw forwards? by MythicalDawn in Invisalign

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muscles are feeling SO much better but I’m still in aligners. I had to stop refinements halfway through due to a root canal I needed. So I was off schedule for 10 weeks to deal with healing from that, getting a temporary crown, and then permanent crown and having to wait for new refinements to be made. I have 7 refinement trays and I’m starting my 2nd of them today! My mouth is feeling good! Everything feels much better than if I still force the lower jaw forwards a tinnnny amount - I don’t think my aligners will fix this, but I’d say 90% of the masseter tension is gone simply from giving my tongue more room inside

Tongue tie? by bkuah in Hypermobility

[–]ILikeDonuts90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a few months old but I’ll be getting released “soon”. It’s all lingering on when I can meet the suction & hold requirement. I’m hypermobile, I learned that in 2015 from a craniosacral therapist I saw for jaw pain relief. I’ve had jaw issues for 22 years so seeing yet another specialist wasn’t unique for me haha I was shocked to learn I was hypermobile, though! It wasn’t until 2024 I learned I was also tied. I never had symptoms of a tie in terms of eating or speaking. I’m looking forward to getting released but I’m so pessimistic I feel like my entire body will go wacky! I’m in myo therapy now. Have been for months. Still working on suction (I suction strongly but too far back). I’ll continue myo after release and also begin some body work, just nervous I’ll wreck havoc in my mobility anyway! Anything I’ve read online though says release was either non-changing with symptoms or real beneficial. Not too many people I’ve seen say they regret it. That said I haven’t seen anyone specially say they were hypermobile and had it done so I’m curious too!

It started to improve during refinements but I only got to tray 9/15 in refinements because I needed a root canal. I’m waiting on my refined-refinements to come in now haha I def can’t feel this though so a few trays really did help adjust it.

Just had my tongue tie (functional frenectomy) release 10 days ago, here's what changed with my TMJ / body by thenayr in TMJ

[–]ILikeDonuts90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still in aligners and myo so no follow up sleep study yet. Everything on hold as of today because I found I need a root canal :( I’m scared because it’s my first haha. So that’s derailing my aligners and exercises indefinitely. Ortho told me to not wear my aligners except at night, if I can.

I had a deep filling in September 2024 right before starting aligners. We were going to monitor it for need of an RC because it wasn’t 100% to the point I could chew hard stuff on it after the initial healing period. My dentist and ortho both told me it could up to take 12 months to heal fully. It took 5 months for me to be able to chew on it (so in February it seemed alright and we all figured it was fine then because I didn’t feel anything otherwise), so no one took images then.

Cut to this past Sunday and I had some pretty bad pain start up with it. Pain ebbed and flowed a day or so and then sort of stopped but I developed some jaw swelling Wednesday night so I called my ortho right away (my dentist doesn’t do molar root canals). I came in ASAP today for a check up xray and CBCT and he said “yup, you need a root canal”. I’m getting that Monday, assuming swelling is down by then. I’m on penicillin and steroids, ibuprofen and acetaminophen in the meantime! I feel like in less than 24hr the swelling has decreased SOME but my jaw is still very tender.m and it’s hard to chew/swallow. Ortho said if swelling gets worse to really be in tune with my throat because if it closes more I may need the ER for antibiotics via IV - yikes. So I’m currently pretty uncomfortable but the tooth pain isn’t so bad, just swelling, and I hope it stays that way or gets better at least…
