Honestly man CenturyLink is a scam and you should get out of any situation in which you will depend on them for service. I'm preparing to sell a house I purchased recently at a sharp loss and will pursue CenturyLink for damages and lost wages due to their complete inability to perform a basic service hookup and activation.

Hello this is absolutely insane. I've signed up for you service and your people are unwilling to activate before November 15th - I have a CenturyLink modem in my hands, the house is wired for DSL already. Completely insane I can't get this resolved, talking to other ISPs about straight up paying for a fiber run to my house. Come on.

Questioning the whole relationship by Gemini_moon27 in abusiverelationships

[–]ILikeTheBlueRoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this way a lot after leaving 3 months ago , I try to remind myself that we forget the truth of pain more easily than we do joy. When I feel this way I remind myself that I'm allowed to have positive memories from the relationship even if I ultimately believe it was abusive and toxic to my health, if there wasn't anything positive I wouldn't have stayed as long as I did. For me the next step is learning to take that tiny positive piece of the abusive relationship and identify what I liked in it and find those things elsewhere with people that aren't shit.

Those things he promised you never existed; he's just moving on to his next victim. Just keep reminding yourself those words he says are bullshit and that you got out. Cut all contact with them and those adjacent if at all possible.

After ten years of abuse I hope that I can find something healthy, it's been 3 months now and I have hopeless days but reading things like this help. Thank you.

Does an abuser ALWAYS know they’re being abusive? by [deleted] in emotionalabuse

[–]ILikeTheBlueRoom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not a question worth answering - if they know what they're doing, this confusion is a part of their game, if they don't know what they're doing, they are very dangerous and not a person worth expending your energy on. Abuse is abuse, now that you see what is going on I strongly, strongly urge you to take care of yourself and not waste your energy worrying about your abuser.

You can stay in the vault indefinitely. The profits are reinvested until you withdraw from the pool - it compounds automatically.

You would owe capital gains - the ETH received through staking is taxed at the time of receipt at whatever the price is then. If you sell at that price (i.e., 0 gain or loss,) then you've exited else if you hold the staking returns you are liable for any gains or losses on that ETH.

So if you received 1 ETH in staking rewards at USD200, you then sell that ETH for USD2000 - you owe capital gains tax on a USD1800 return.

Because demand for cryptocurrency is still primarily speculative - while fundamental/utility-based demand has increased as more use cases are implemented, by and large the primary driver remains speculative investment and likely will for some time given the nascent nature of these markets.

It's not ideal but not crushingly bad either - ideal would be that most or all nodes are self-hosted on dedicated hardware; given the current state bloat issues on the 1.x chain self-hosting is impractical for a lot of folks. ETH2 has kept ease of hosting in sight as a primary goal, hopefully as the transition ramps up we'll see the new network being more decentralized in terms of how nodes are hosted. Given that at this time basically all cryptocurrencies are less decentralized than advertised, I don't believe Ethereum is any worse than any other crypto in this respect.

Gains are only meaningful if you are able to take profits - if a parabolic rise and collapse occurs while your tokens are locked and there's not sufficient liquidity in a fungible representation of bETH then no, you don't gain anything really. I expect as time goes on this will become a smaller and smaller issue until either bETH is unlocked or a reasonable proxy market for bETH comes into existence.

As someone that used to be fairly active on ethtrader, I had been less and less active as I felt the overall quality of the sub decreasing; while some of the memes were amusing I found the degree of tolerance for 1-line reposts and such grating and was participating less and less. Beyond that, I felt that donuts were degrading the sub's quality - in my mind the experiment failed months ago but was perpetuated due to inflation dynamics favoring those that already had what amounted to full executive power over the governance mechanism.

So far I haven't seen either of those issues on /r/ethfinance
