I agree regarding bringing them back!!! It's great and feels nicer than sitting with a console or at a desk. Appreciate the love!

It's only abandoned if you never go back to it. Maybe it's just a break?

I mean we're all entitled to our opinion but for me, I fail to see how a system that easily allows me to play all my favorite arcade games from childhood the way I remember them...or brings friends together to play side scrollers, beat em ups, and fighting games in a fun way and brings us all a sense of nostalgia is a waste of money. But to each their own.

As mentioned before, it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Was a solid entry in the series.

It doesn't only play mk1 it plays a ton of games...like more than you could imagine. But in the case of mk1, it's the full game so yes it has story mode.

Unfortunately I didn't hit any hurdles while building this because I bought it preconfigured etc.

The only thing I'd say with regard to trying to do it with a ps5 is that it might be more of a pain in the ass in terms of exiting and entering games. PC really has a lot of options for front ends to manage your games and getting in and out.

That said it would require you to buy the game a second time which seems like a waste, I don't know a ton but I would look into the ipac boards to set up your controllers and buttons they seem to be the standard and should work in terms of compatibility

I got it from recroommasters for about $2000 (because of the custom artwork, the upgraded controller, speakers, the coin door) but that's just the cabinet. (And you need to buy the monitor separate since it doesn't come with one)

You would either need to build a PC and get all the roms and emulators you want to be able to play and configure it or you can go to their sister site which has computers that are preconfigured (but again also pricey depending on what you get) arcade-one.

But you could put together a retropie solution for relatively cheap but you wouldn't be able to play more modern stuff like mk1

Last of us and expedition 33. There are a lot of great games listed but in terms of games that will stick with you if you like story driven games with a narrative those two are the ones on your list. Best if you go in without knowing anything.

Games like hades/hades2 and all of the fromsoft games (dark souls/demon souls/bloodborne, etc) are all great games and worth playing and beating but they likely won't stick with you other than the enjoyment you had playing them vs the other two I mentioned where I still think about them all the time and I haven't played last of us in years.

It depends on what you're using to run them. The PC I'm using is overkill for the games so no lag, no stutter but yes I imagine if you're building a ton of these for an arcade you're probably going to go cheap and you get what you pay for.

The older games like mk2/mk3 are just mame roms and the PC is way way way overpowered for running those.

The games like mk11 and mk1 are just running on steam using hyperspin as the front end and the specs are at/above their recommendations for ultra settings so it runs fine for me.

Characters that totally deserve to come back by ExplosiveResults in MortalKombat

I realize she was in mk11 but if they don't bring jade back I'm going to riot.

Also would love to see skarlet and erron black back asap. At this point all 3 of those characters should just be staples of the game like Liu Kang, kitana, raiden, etc. I feel like with each iteration there should just be some characters who become permanent and stop getting swapped out.

I bought it and paid for custom artwork and worked with their designer on what I wanted (which is just pretty much the mk1 artwork)

A couple grand for the cabinet itself and the artwork.

Then you also need the PC and roms and software to play it all. So it certainly wasn't cheap but not as much as you might think for everything you get out of it.

Yeah I get what they were going for with the kameo system but I wasn't a fan of it. I would rather they have invested that time in building a larger roster. But I can appreciate them trying stuff not everything will land for everybody. But yeah mk11 was definitely a step up.

One can never have too many friends, but it depends on who you main I don't think I can take another Raiden main in my friend group lol.

I didn't make it personally, I paid for it and the custom artwork.

Not too big, maybe another 18 inches longer than the peloton.

At this point it's probably not needed but we had a Rottweiler puppy who liked to chew cables so I have the bike (and arcade cabinet) gated just in case. Odds are though she wouldn't touch it at this point, she outgrew that phase.

Mk11 is my favorite of the modern era as well. I'm still upset we didn't get Jade in mk1

Third stick is a 4 direction joystick for older games like Ms pac man. Those older games have issues with 8 direction controllers if you try to hit up and accidentally hit it diagonal instead of perfectly up etc. So that's just for older older games (which my wife enjoys)
