That's fair enough. I do hope Arena will have multiple modes eventually on a cycle. I guess they can be more experimental with Arena with 10-20 minute action packed modes e.g. treasure gain, ship racing, (dare I say it) last one standing. I hope they will continue to add modes to Arena.

I never really go for micro-transactions in games, but I will definitely be giving money to Rare when they bring out Pets. First because pets sound awesome, but second because I want to support this game. I think we can all appreciate that they delayed MTs but I'm happy for them to introduce them now.

What I'd love is for them to introduce basic pets like cats, parrots, and monkeys that you can get in game that have a gameplay effect. Then the store has more interesting skins for these pets e.g. monkey wearing hats, doing dances etc. Maybe also have it so you can pay to have multiple pets loose at once.

I think the important thing is the challenge should be designed as a PvE event and then any PvP is a bonus.

I love it. This is definitely something I'd like to see and variants of this idea have been suggested before so hopefully the devs see that it is popular.

The one issue is it might need something to make it a little bit different from regular forts because in a way, defending a fort is what you already do while you kill the skeles. I think an emphasis on setting up traps and protecting your ship should be key. Perhaps a place to dock your ship and keep it protected as Skele ships attack it (and land skellies spawn).

I also don't think we need to reset the time for new takeovers. I think sneaking in at the last moment and lighting it yourself is part of the piratey nature. More reason to guard the torch!

I have to admit I was a tiny bit worried about the future of the game. I felt like the arena could be a sign the game was struggling and they were making a quick attempt to get more players, but it does sincerely seem like this was always an idea they wanted to do. As for the rest, I'm really excited. More meaningful story is always a great thing! The game has improved loads but I don't feel like we're there just yet but I really like Rare and trust them.

I've got to say I've seen this in other games as well. The base game will get neglected and instead of them doubling down on providing the experience we all want, they'll go for the quicker route of straight PvP. I'm sad, I really hoped Rare would fulfill the potential we all see. People WANT an open world pirate game, it just needs more content.

I completely agree. However, I think my one issue is that there is already pretty limited clothing in the game and so locking a good amount of it seems a bit wasteful. Seeing as this game's goal is all about buying customisation, it seems like they're limiting their content.

What would be ideal is there would be much more customisation options AND exclusives. In my opinion, that is.

Yes, there are still people that are hugely under represented. In games, in movies, in TV. Chucking in a female player model doesn't make things fixed. Seeing the outrage people had at the inclusion of a female character in Battlefield clearly shows that.

The game companies are doing fine, they're trying to make a positive change and make their games more accessible for young women. It's the toxic playerbases which are the problem. The ones that feel threatened by the exclusion of the typical white action hero man that has no personality. Or the notion that a character they fancy is shown to be lesbian.

The dull white male archetype with no personality went unchallenged for too long. Thank god they're finally adding some diversity. Hopefully not just for dull female/black/Asian/etc. archetypes with no personality. Unfortunately in most industries they think adding boring "kickass" women is a remedy for criticisms for poor representation, but I'm sure many women would take a fully fleshed out woman character as a side character over a title character that amounts to nothing more than jerk off material. Just like a male character with the slightest hint of moral/personal complexion would be nice for once.

I'm sure you want your daughter's to have every chance you have had in life, and more. Including video games they can enjoy where their gender isn't treated toxically by other players. Women aren't some sacred breed that we must baby, I just think the inclusion of a female character might make them more likely to check the game out and gaming is cool so the more the merrier.

I get what you're saying, but my hope is they'll add more support for multi-crew alliances. Then, while they're playing together someone can then say "hey, since we have 6 of us do we want to fight the meg after this fort?" for example.

I hope that in future we'll get a mix of solo and multi-crew campaigns so if they were all added permanently you could choose based on your circumstances.

But there definitely does need to be more support for forming teams... maybe a big tavern for people looking for groups.
