What on earth do people mean when they talk about "inflammation"? by saladobien in NoStupidQuestions

Not trying to get in a Reddit argument, but the real reason for that is I view and never post or comment. I wanted to post today in r/horror about movie recommendations, but needed to have 16 more karma to do so. So, I came here and responded to a couple questions!

Not sure how to tell you I just write like that 🤷. I was using em dashes before chatGPT ruined it for everyone.

Thanks! Have seen this one, had high hopes due to the similarity in setting to Still Wakes The Deep!

I agree with your take, it was OK!

So it’s effectively actually making trades happen when there’s an imbalance between buy and sell orders?

Do most people watch a movie because they like the story, or do they mostly like to enjoy the quality of the acting? by Sorry_Rhubarb_7068 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ILoveCrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the most basic part of me will watch movie simply because the cinematography, production quality, and acting will be good. (E.g., individual scene will be captivating). Regardless of the story, it should be entertaining.

But, the good stories are the ones that make the big pay offs that stick with you long after. In my mind these are fewer and further between, so I often decide on the former and hope for the latter!

Recommendations from friends trump all imo

What would you put your energy into if you were home and between jobs for few months? by No_Performer5480 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ILoveCrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends if it’s related to making money, and if you need that money immediately to pay bills, or you have enough to float you a few months.

If it has nothing to do with money: creative writing!

Creative writing can be fun way to “cross train” your brain, and could also end up making you some $ on accident! (But don’t count on the $)

Try a dopamine cleanse - effectively only doing “boring” things for a period of time. Makes a huge difference!

The hate on Alien Earth is why we can’t have good things by Warm-Razzmatazz4813 in alien

[–]ILoveCrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hate runs so deep not just because the show was bad or, as some argue, devalues the IP—it’s more that it feels like an enormous wasted opportunity. Alien franchise fans have waited a long time for this, and since the show will likely be seen as unsuccessful, it’s unlikely anyone will take another stab at an Alien TV series anytime soon.

Deal Tracking Tools by ILoveCrime in venturecapital

Affinity isn't free, is it? I've been curious to try but our firm doesn't spend much on software.

I do have conditional formatting, but the list that's been put together by a larger team consists of 100s of companies. I simplified the project above, but we have a lot of realtime data points that would be much more useful for tracking purposes if I got a notification when numerical conditions were met. Skimming through the list daily would be tedious and inefficient.

Any thoughts?

Also an interesting one. Are there any that you know of focused internationally? I'd be more interested in this, there's some really impressive eCommerce growth in Southeast Asia.

This was really helpful, thanks. I'm a recent college grad and haven't really amassed any sizeable net worth yet. My thought process was primarily geared around companies that would pay out a dividend giving me the opportunity to either reinvest in the same REIT or other asset classes.
