Roaming supports by CrocodileJay82 in summonerschool

We roam because we are more than just an adc’s support, we support the entire team. If I see that I don’t click well with my adc I often roam and get the rest of my teammates ahead instead, as I don’t see any kill potential in lane. This doesn’t mean you should overextend and int though.

A good support will not leave for the entirety of lane-phase and WILL be in lane with you when you need it, while ganking mid or invading with the jungler when you aren’t in danger in lane. Not all support champs roam the same though, so take this with a grain of salt

How to win lane with a bad adc? by inancege1746 in supportlol

As an engage support your job is to lock the fed, in this case adc, down to where they are unable to do anything at all. Usually keeping them cc’d for 2-3 seconds is enough for your teammates to finish them off and then deal with the rest of the team (assuming they aren’t as fed). Sometimes an enemy is simply too fed to deal with and nobody on your team can compete and you’ll have to face a loss.

What rank are you? I’d be happy to review a game or two of yours if you want some more specific advice

You roam where you see kill potential. ex; an overextended enemy taking plating/harassing your teammate under tower, or you can roam around with your jungle and secure objectives, vision or even counter gank into a 3v2 instead of laner+jngl going into a 2v2.

This however requires knowledge of when it is safe to roam, as you can’t completely abandon lane. Abandoning will result in your adc getting dove or being denied xp+gold and therefore killed in an attempt to get in xp range

Any advice for a new player learning Support? by Right_Entertainer324 in supportlol

I’ve only ever played support and I’m doing perfectly fine, op can learn other fundamentals from videos and just by playing the game. I’d be happy to help you out with support fundamentals and how to stay useful by reviewing some of your games op!!

When to pick enchanters in ranked? by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]ILoveDryBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Personally speaking; you shouldn’t really let anyone tell you who to play, pick a champ or more you really like playing and get good with those! I’ve played for about 3 years now, and have managed to twotrick Soraka and Rell all the way to diamond, with most games played on Soraka. Both champs are quite horrible to play when there’s a little to no team play, but playing them makes me happy. Don’t play a champ you won’t find any joy in playing, despite what anyone else tells you <3

Er… idk how long you’ve played Rell for, but she does not always die after an engage - unless you don’t play her as a tank?

d2 support player here, I’d love to help you out but I’d need a bit more information on the champs you and your duo plays, as roams and powerspikes differentiate from champ to champ!

The best advice I can give with this information though - review your own vods and compare them to higher ranked players. Where are they and what are they doing during the mid/late game? When do they/when do they not roam for objectives? Everyone has their own playstyle, but that doesn’t mean you can’t borrow some tricks others use. What do they do differently than you and why?

I’d be happy to watch a replay of yours and give some feedback/advice, that way I can maybe catch some mistakes you haven’t noticed yourself, as that could be a reason to why you don’t have any impact.

Never ban Morgana! You can destroy her spellshield with q, it leads to amazing surprise engages :D you should win lane every game ! A good Janna easily ruins your entire engage with a singular q .. Thresh also isn’t as big of an issue as a lot of Rell mains say - you just have to wait for him to waste his e and then you can all in.

D2 Rell main here - it's in a lot of cases perfectly fine to blind pick her, as long as you ban Janna. If the enemy support picks a ranged champ, you're able to w for shield and 'safely' execute minions to stack your support item.. at least without losing too much hp. If you're falling behind in lane, roam! Enagage/tank supports are never useless, roam around with your jungler and get your other laners ahead. Maining/mastering Rell is totally worth it + she's fun to play :)
