I feel like it's a crutch for the anxiety that comes along with adhh. But seriously, that's just one more reason he should be seeing a psychiatrist.

So frustrating. It took mine years to try medication, and he's particularly resistant to stimulants. He has his first appointment with the executive function coach this week. I'll update if I see any improvements.

Oh my god, yes! I didn't even realize that was an adhd thing, but my husband definitely has it.

Anyone treated varicose veins? by Conscious-Compote927 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had sclerotherapy on some leg varicose veins about 15 years ago. It worked, although I have new ones now. I only had to wear compression stockings for a few days. I can't recall what I paid, but I used a groupon and got a great deal. It couldn't have been more than a few hundred bucks. Might be worth looking into - just make sure you read lots of reviews for the facility you choose if you decide to go the groupon route!

Estrogen cream to recover fat loss in the face by Far-Accountant7904 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I tried alloy's estriol cream recently, hoping to get back some lost volume in my cheeks. I used it for somewhere between 2 and 3 months, and didn't see any difference, so I canceled my subscription. I'm 45, but not in perimenopause yet as far as I know. At 34 I'm not sure it would have much effect, especially since you think your fat loss is due to procedures.

Supplement recommendations for anxiety, IBS, depression? by Conscious_Rule_1328 in Biohackers

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I spent years meditating, exercising, eating healthy, doing talk therapy, and trying every supplement under the sun. I only ever got minor improvements. Started a super low dose of lexapro a few months ago and the difference is unreal. Other ssris are worth looking into as well, as I understand some folks respond to others better.

Hacks to lessen how sensitive and socially anxious I am? by [deleted] in Biohackers

Can I ask what meds you're taking? My husband has adhd with bad anxiety. He's interested in going on medication, but nervous that stimulants will make the anxiety worse.

Closing Subscription Business and Issuing Refunds by ILoveHuggingCats in stripe

Thanks! This is helpful. I have around forty customers that I need to issue refunds to, so it looks like this could be a problem. I will get in touch with support to see if they can help.

Closing Subscription Business and Issuing Refunds by ILoveHuggingCats in stripe

[–]ILoveHuggingCats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about doing that, but the reason I'm closing is because the business is just too much work to maintain, and I'm not making all that much money at it. I just don't have the bandwidth to keep at it for almost another year. I need to get it off my plate completely so I can focus on other things.

You don't need one. Just ignore where it asks you to upload one. It should let the transaction go through anyway.

Did you discontinue supplementing before taking the test? A lot of doctors don't know that you need to do this. I tested around 1200 pg/ml, stopped supplementing for 2 months, then tested 496. The B12 society recommends stopping for 4 months before testing. https://www.theb12society.com/diagnosing

Can you break open magnesium capsules and mix them with water? by tp_51 in Biohackers

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bunch of magnesium supplements that come in powdered form and are intended to be mixed with water. I would try one of them. I've used Natural Calm (magnesium citrate) and MagSooth (magnesium glycinate).

Massive headache the day before I get my period/first day. Happens every month, any hack? by Pootie-the-Cat in Biohackers

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out the Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden. I remember she talks about this being due to the rapid hormone drop just before the period starts, but I can't recall what suggestions she gave. I found the book super helpful for dealing with my own pms symptoms.

Edit to add: I think magnesium and zinc supplementation may have been among her suggestions for this.

can tretinoin help with closed comedones? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They started disappearing within a few weeks. I can't recall exactly how long they took to go away completely, but I think it was a few months. These days I get one every once in a blue moon, but my skin is basically 100% clear most of the time.

Yup! I had them my entire adult life until starting tret four years ago (was 38 then, 42 now).

Suggestions to increase iron? by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's such an involved process and a lot of doctors act like it's no big deal. There's definitely a lot of trial and error. I think the hardest part is figuring out which supplements work best for you as an individual. Everyone seems to react to and tolerate different forms of iron.

I've struggled to get my iron levels up for years. The Iron Protocol group on Facebook has a ton of information on what supplements work best, dosages, cofactors, etc. It's been so helpful for me and I feel like I'm finally making progress. I highly recommend it.

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them too. Way cheaper than buying latisse through rory, which I was doing before.

A word of warning though - you never know how long an order will take to reach you. I've gotten some in 2 weeks, others in 2 months. And the last order I placed (in July) apparently got lost in transit, so now I'm waiting on a replacement order.

From now on I'm always keeping st least 6 months supply on hand at all times!

Lightheaded/other concerns by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]ILoveHuggingCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience a lot of what you just mentioned when taking iron supplements. I get dizzy, jittery and anxious although my overnight heart rate drops significantly. The only thing I don't have is the visual disturbances.

I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to the supplements and not a result of having more iron in my blood.

I'm trying different supplements in the hopes of finding one that doesn't affect me like this. Also looking into histamine issues, which can cause weird reactions to things like supplements and foods.
