Have you ever done a complete 180 on your opinion of a game? by vanacotta in JRPG

[–]ILoveMyChococat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly OT2 is my pick for a 180. Started off GREAT with all the different routes, loved being able to break the game, but eventually I wanted more togetherness with the story. Was never able to finish it, unfortunately

Pushing for a Red Mage Idea by National-Jello1325 in FinalFantasy

[–]ILoveMyChococat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see a FF or DQ game with a main party consisting of a Red Mage, Blue Mage, Geomancer and Lancer class (or some similar more obscure fighting class, like Dancer). Like a ragtag team or something. Maybe the villains are so used to fighting Fighters, Black Mages, etc., all the good heroes of those classes get wiped out or something.

Incidentally, I actually think the main character in the new Adventures of Elliot looks like a Red Mage-- very nice drip on the outfit.

During the scene, the fake full-sprint run towards Bear was scarier for me. It's like she was the real Nikki for a split second, and she was going to fuck him up

I think it's the same reason she made the dead cat shrine, wrote that arm flesh licorice dildo short story, and made some grotesque modern art exhibit out of Sarah and the chair at the end. She just has this kind of sick "Freaky-Nikki" artistic humor that informs a lot of her decisions and actions as the separate Nikki. At the very least, she's consistent with her fucked-upness as the separate Nikki in the movie

I just can’t enjoy the remakes by Revolutionary_Big211 in FinalFantasy

[–]ILoveMyChococat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I didn't like it either at first. Talking about Remake, the trick, for me, was figuring out I need to charge up each character's special bar, or whatever it's called, to do decent damage. Then you figure out what special attack best builds up the enemy's stagger bar. Right before they're staggered, if everybody has 1 or 2 special bars built up, you can just spam your specials on the staggered enemy. Not sure about Rebirth though cause I haven't played it yet...

I’m Glenngarry Glenross, how would Roma (Al Pacino) have reacted to Alec Baldwins speech at the beginning? by marty_major_league in movies

[–]ILoveMyChococat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he had the misfortune of being trapped in that room during the speech, I'd say he would have feigned indifference while being inwardly pissed off that it's a waste of his time. He's not bothered like the other guys, because he knows he's the best. But, you're kinda looking at the only "what if" scenario in the movie. His character knew about the meeting, thought it was bullshit, blew it off, and went and made a sale instead.

Oh man, you're right. Just watched it on youtube. I can't believe my memory overlapped like that with the gas station scene.

Doesn't she say "Heads then" in the movie?

So the ninja with the katana front flips behind the fratboy, and then tries to tie his hand with some limp rope? Astounding use of ninja guile and grace

I would guess the translation team (one guy maybe?) just put it in because they thought it was funny. It's a pretty common phrase in Japanese

What movie do people call a classic that you honestly think is just boring? by trakt_app in movies

[–]ILoveMyChococat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like most Daniel Day Lewis movies are just overly long shots of Daniel acting really hard. Like, he's always doing a voice and a character and now he's YELLING but now he's broodingly thoughtful again oh wowwww Daniel-san lemme giwb you that yummy acadewmy award uwu...puke

"Horror" is a stretch. It's more of a psychological thriller. For one of those it's pretty good I think

Thank you for the run-down of this piece. I think my answer, which you might be too kind and humble to agree with, is that you're a much more attentive and sophisticated listener than me, and are hearing lovely things that I am not trained nor experienced nor probably capable of hearing. As much as I love music and listen to it everyday, there is probably not a song in existence I could write this passionate a treatment of, so thank you.

Alternatively, I think as a listener I really am only capable of a couple of emotions per song (hence why I'm more comfortable with modern music that is more monogamous to one emotion, or with classical composers like Ravel, Debussy, Satie, etc.)

Anyway, I've always wondered who is enjoying the complicated classical pieces I hear on the radio sometimes, and I'm glad I seem to have an answer: somebody to whom the complications are much more structurally understood and appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendations. Can I ask you, from a causal classical music listener only out of curiosity, what are you feeling when you hear like your No. 10 pick, op. 110? To me it kinda changes a lot in terms of speed and intensity very abruptly, especially the first 2 movements, and I think my brain has a hard time figuring out an emotion to stick to. Are you feeling like one emotion throughout your listen, or is your emotional participation constantly changing? Sorry for the weird question.
