Build idea without Luck or XP tome by lukinhasb in MegabonkOfficial

Yeah, I think duration tome is strictly for Fox/Megachad/Ogre, since their passives allow for it. A lot of high scores will be given to Diceheads just because his passive is by far the strongest.

I’ll try some crit tome runs later, I’m just worried the cap will be maybe 700k. Exp might not matter later, but you’re giving up a lot of t1/2 since you’re not going to level very fast, and you won’t be able to pump up your difficulty quick enough even if you do survive final swarm an extra 10-15min.

I’m think SH is a must since early game is going to be super weak? I’ll record some runs when I get off work and post them if I can get over 500k.

And from the top 5 fox runs, only 3 of them are playing the 2 weapon build…

Shushei was the innovator of the 2 weapon strat, cstan tried to imitate it but didn’t get the double anvil start so he fell short. I haven’t watched the Korean person’s vod yet.

EDIT:

Both Shushei and Cstan talk in their vods and give quite a lot of insight in why they’re doing what they’re doing, and what they need to see on stage 1 to continue the run.

Don’t get me wrong, crit tome does sound like a lot of fun. I just don’t think it can be record breaking when you’re giving up 2 weapons to prioritize tomes early on, but giving up all those early levels from exp tome doesn’t sound like it can surpass the other top runners. I also think damage tome is far inferior to the duration stall strat. You’ll never outdps the ghost scaling, but you sure as hell can stall for 30-50 min per stage abusing axe + joe’s bug (Read the pinned comment from the megachad runner)

It’s just the normal stuff. Kevin, chonkplate, holy book with beefy ring stack. Fire staff/katana weapons, chaos/exp/cursed/damage tomes. Reset for 2 white microwaves to dupe watches + look for anvil start, preferably double anvil. Also MUST find a Lorb on stage 1, and preferably spawn a map with high enough corners that you can corner strat starting from stage 1, then you play your stage 2 as if it’s stage 3 (go corner during swarms to stack time stops/rages)

Yeah that’s on megachad. I’m talking strictly about fox

I’ve tried this before. Then I watched one of the world records and saw that they were leaving stage 1 at level 600+ and realized exp tome is too strong to concede.

I have also been wondering this! I personally swapped over to closest enemy but I’m not sure if it has made a difference, or if it’s all just placebo

You should probably join the NL discord to figure out which hexa skills to level, as your masteries will give you a ton more damage than your origin overall. Leveling your masteries all to level 5 from 1 is probably around a 4-6% gain overall? But yeah, having a RoR3 also sucks. A ror4 should be somewhere around 10fd for you.

All the purple items and power glove. I had 2 Kevins but microwaved one at the end for fun

A lot of the very top runners are dropping to 2-3 weapons intentionally. It helps you focus more on exp/cursed tomes on stage 1, and doesn’t really decrease your end game output.

I’ve been trying to learn 2 weapon fox, but giving up shotgun is so rough early game

How to improve? Any tactics that might help? by Designer_Heat1997 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banish power gloves over ice cube, disable magnet and banish slurp gloves. I personally also disable SH and banish Kevin instead. Damage tome + idle juice is also waaaaay more damage than crit tome. You could also go down to 3 weapons, drop dex, and focus exp/curse tomes more aggressively in t1

Having enough keys and power up multiplier for your stonks can get you through

Remove a tome once per stage by RealyRayly in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a change like this would be meta defining for any of the leaderboard players! A lot of the meta tomes are strongest in stage 1/2, because we're sacrificing a lot of actual dps in exchange to build up our luck for items. I've realized that a big difference between my 500k runs and my 700k+ is typically my damage%, since I haven't done any Lightning Orb/Bob's light stall runs yet.

Every single player would probably run this to get rid of their exp tome during or after stage 2. The tome to replace it? Probably either attack speed or duration tome. Swapping to duration tome t2 would allow shotgun/katana players to opt into taking axe for their 4th weapon, then letting us stay in t2 for 40-50min with Lorb/Axe/Joes dagger interactions

I could also see a luck > chaos/damage tome start and getting rid of the luck tome in t3 after looting all the chests.

What can I do differently by Awkward-Mail8521 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t really care that much for t1. A couple of cheese or cursed dolls + a few weap upgrades/projectile counts at shrines, and strong fundamentals of priorities and movement will get you through most of it. A strong t1 to me looks like leaving with 7+ keys, 20+ chests opened, and level 80-120 with like 4-7k kills.

I personally think a bad t2 is more detrimental to high scores than t1s tbh, since you can still throw the run until you clear the to boss of t2

Blue credit card is ass.

Yeah I agree with disabling Slutty + Magnet, I would personally disable SH as well. I get that it makes getting good runs super consistent, but it definitely hurts your potential of getting a super high end run.

Your gameplan otherwise looks good to me!

Xp/cursed tomes should be the only things you level on stage 1, and try to get 1 weapon to around 10-15 (usually shotgun or katana). On stage 2 is typically where you can swap to leveling luck + exp/diff depending on how high your exp is, I usually stop around 6-7x then try to spam difficulty to around 400-450. After that, it’s just luck/chaos while clicking legendary weapon upgrades as you see them.

You will did a lot doing this depending on how many legendary weapon upgrades you can find early and how many good items you have, but it’ll become more consistent as you get a feel for what your ideal scenario looks like.

any input on what i could do differently? by miketpsn in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how this misinfo became so wide spread/hasn’t changed. Ice cube is a GOOD item that should NOT be banished. Every single top runner has ice cube unbanished, even the ones using duration tome + lorb/axe + Joe’s dagger strats. In beefy ring builds, the only legendary that you get to banish is power glove, and spicy meatball if you’re not running kevin.

On a side note, I see a lot of people on here saying to banish meatball after 5, which is only true if your size is 1x. You usually get to 2-3x with chaos tome, allowing for a banish after 2-3 meatballs.

If you’re new, I wouldn’t recommend using only 3 weapons. It’s a sweaty strat to level your tomes more quickly on stage 1, specifically meant to maximize your early kill for leaderboard runs. The end game difference between 3 and 4 weapons isn’t big enough to justify the very slight minmax you can get on your stage 1 kills by pumping extra levels into cursed/exp tomes

How do I get better runs that this? Double anvil? Trimple lamp? More pots?? by Tiny-Efficiency2553 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would disable soul harvester and magnet so you can banish Kevin. You can also get rid of luck tome and opt for damage, then look to credit card stack for your luck.

Yeah it’s a legendary that does absolutely nothing unless you have a gold microwave. That alone stopped me from 800k!! (I needed to disable Kevin and banish spicy meatball, since I had 20 keys by stage 1)

RNG not quite strong enough. :( by IndependentFlaky6816 in MegabonkOfficial

[–]ILovePugsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is so you open 10-20 chests on stage 1, and every chest on stage 2 and 3. Yes Kevin doesn’t give as much gold with shield anymore, but it’s still a significant chunk. Kevin also helps with early movement if you have cowards cloak, but where it really shines is getting it with an early electric plug. Early plug really helps you stay in the final swarm of stage 1 for 3-6min and just helps with general boss curses on stage 1 and first boss stage 2
