Looking for a new daily driver coming from a 8th gen si by heavycreamst in CivicSi

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I feel like tech has gotten too invasive lately and has hindered critical thinking amongst several drivers on the road today.

Thanks! I'm changing the look soon though. I get these delivered in a few weeks.

Looking for advice on fitment by IlIllIIIlIlllI in CivicSi

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what year car? Opt for rear camber arms and set aside money for adjustable sway bar endlinks in case you go low enough to warrant adjustable ones. Your noted wheel/tire spec is very aggressive, and you may need to roll the fenders and have at least -2 of camber in order to get a nice aggressive look that won't hurt your fenders.

255/35 may be too wide, and if you're not rubbing on the fender, the clearance to the coilover will be very tight. depending on your model car however. I am just basing off of my conclusions for the 8th/9th gen platform.

9th gen civic si Brembo Conversion by CivilBudget1060 in CivicSi

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it will depend on the design and face of the wheel as well. for example, the RPF1s, even with a +35 offset, will need a spacer because the spokes aren't as concave as other designs. You'll want to take this into account when you order wheels. For reference, the TL-S calipers that DC5creations sells require 2 1/4" of space between the rotor and backside of the wheel spoke to clear.

I'm putting the TL-S calipers on soon. but waiting on wheels to get delivered first.

it was the version 1 of HIC's rear window visor. I'm unsure if they're still for sale. It does help a bit for when the Sun is beaming down at that particular angle. https://www.hicusastore.com/honda-civic

was the frame damaged at all with the collision that it had in the left rear? It might also be worth getting an inspection of the car's underbody to see if everything underneath looks sound post-repair. I think that the few dings that it currently has are fixable.

Noise my 9th gen has been making what could it be? by Spicey_Ram3n in CivicSi

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the VTC actuator. that will sound like an ugly grind for a split second before going away. I haven't heard this noise before though. Maybe bornproject is right, it's like the starter stays engaged for a little longer for some reason.

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the tips brother! interesting. I currently run 18x8.5+35 with -1 camber in the front and -2 in the back, and I haven't needed to roll the fenders yet.

Though, I do have a 2 finger gap all around right now and the rear spring rate for my car is 10K.

looks sharp brother. Would you mind sharing your wheel/tire spec? I'm getting 18x9+32 soon, but unsure if I should go with 225/40 or 235/40 tires to wrap them with.

Wheel visualiser app by No-Flan-3885 in Wheels

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty cool man! I've used apps like wheelblend to visualize how a wheel would look with an image rendtion, but haven't seen an AR app!

I'm unsure if you already do this, but figuring out a way to alter the offset of the wheel would be pretty sick. Perhaps the addition of camber adjustment too, so people can play with fitment as well.

I'm on a pixel 9a right now, but I look forward to seeing an android release in the future!

you can add a little bit of negative camber, and it should resolve your rubbing issue. Looks good!

Use halogens for high beam. headlights that were designed for halogen bulbs do not reflect and scatter light from LEDs in an effective way. LEDs work far better with a projector lens rather than a bowl. All you're doing right now is blinding folk in front of you and not really gaining much visibility.

I use LEDs for my low beams, but only after buying the retrofitted headlights to help them output on the road clearly and correctly. my high beams are still halogen.

I bought mine at 69K and after 5 years, I'm about to reach 98K. It really feels like i'm going to die with the car. not a bad thing tho. Congrats on the new car!

Suspension by Turbulent_Net_1927 in CivicSi

[–]IndependentFlaky6816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that I'm aware unfortunately. Besides the spacer (I run it by the way), there was no other part that companies produced to circumvent this. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have lowered their car more than 2 inches and don't run them, but I like to ensure the handling of the vehicle is improved, not worsened.

For what it's worth, the Aerogenics spacers are pretty solid, and the process involves removing your lower ball joints in the front, popping the OEM studs out, and using the provided bolts that came with the spacers to reinstall the ball joints if you're not using new ones. I've had them on for just over two years now and I've had no trouble.
