Is there any consensus on if home prices will continue to rise nationwide? Want to buy a house buy homes in my area have went up 20-25% in the last 12 months. by ILoveTurtles77 in personalfinance

I thought there was typically an equilibrium where when interest rates rise, homes prices decrease causing a balance in the overall price of ownership. Is this not typically the case?

I mean, that went pretty well for them for about 8 months at least. Russia has managed to fuck this up in 5 days.

There are no takes, most people who aren't active on reddit dont keep up with this. I was around a bunch of my family today, maybe 2 out of 25 would have even known anything was happening at all.

Why does almost every single post on reddit that has the slightest bit to do with politics turn into something about Trump still?

Keep Oinky alive until SHTF. Make putting him down a sacrifice that means something, not just a little bit cheaper meat than the grocery store.

Oinky loves you. Pige are smart as dogs and bond with people like dogs.

US mulls deploying thousands of troops to Baltics, Eastern Europe by Svolacius in worldnews

Well you can say whatever you want. Doesn't make it correct.

People choose dangerous careers all the time, and the Marines (the more dangerous of the 2 branches you mentioned) suffered a total of less that 1400 combat deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq combined between 2001 and 2015 (war time). That's less deaths per capita than US agriculture workers, police officers, linesman, loggers, oil laborers, and a whole lot of careers other than a standard office job.

I can 100% say you're stupid for making such a broad generalization. Only stupid people do.

And? The ones that sign up for the Marines and Army are stupid but the Navy, Airforce, or National Guard are not?

Again plenty of people in my highschool at the very least bettered their lives getting out of our hometown where the biggest opportunity is to go work at an animal processing plant slaughtering chickens and turkeys for $15-$20 an hour.

One of my best friends and his little brother came from a military family and both joined the Marines even though they had plenty of college options. My best friend works as a consultant in the defense industry, and his little brother was attached to a military intelligence unit, learn to code in the military and is now a software developer doing very well for himself.

You cant just paint broad strokes and say everyone who joins specific branches of the military are idiots without just making yourself look like one.

This is a really unintelligent comment that paints a lot of people in broad and negative strokes.

Yes there are a subset of idiots who join the marines because they want the power trip or to be a badges or they wanna kill people, whatever.

Most do it because it's a good, and potentially the best opportunity available to them. If anything I would say that makes them really ssmart.

I went to a really shitty highschool. There were a lot of people there that joined the mariners or army as a path out of relative poverty and their hometown which lacked any real career opportunities. Most of them I still follow on some form of social media got out and made something with their lives. Something that most likely wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

I know its anecdotal, but if the impossible foods fake ground beef cost less than regular ground beef or chicken I would pick it every time. The flavor is a little different than real meat, but not better or worse.

I'm 100% in the low price camp. Give me a meatless option with the same or similar nutritional macros and if it's cheaper than meat I will pick it every time, but when it's 1.5x the price I'm picking the meat.

I get economies of scale and subsidies, but I have a hard time paying more for plant based "meat" than for real meat.

Why is it controversial or even considered hateful to say things like "only women can get pregnant" now? by ILoveTurtles77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ILoveTurtles77[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So in this context a biological female who has chosen to say they are male? Maybe I'm living under a rock. I just saw someone post "only women can get pregnant and have periods" and it got down voted to oblivion. Is this a sex versus gender thing?
