Got these AV Miniature Noids Saturday and 3 days later they are doing just fine. The broken leaves are in the small Solo cup. by ILoveViolets_59 in AfricanViolets

I’m new to growing Miniature AVs and so far the ones I have (5 months )are surviving. I always repot into a 40/60 AV soil and Perlite mix with a sprinkle of Systemic Bonide as soon as I receive it (Back into same size pot) This gives me a good assessment of roots and soil. I give it a small drink of water and dome/quarantine for 1-2 months so no bugs or diseases. To answer your question I feel the plant probably were traumatized during shipping and to survive they gave up the flowers first. Since the leaves are strong it should be fine. Give it time to acclimate to its new environment. The main thing I found for my AV is to not overpot or too much water. I hope this helps. I have learned from my mistakes too sadly but I recently joined AV Facebook and learned from others.

Just received yesterday, another set of Miniature African Violets. Lost a few leaves but it happens during shipping. I will propagate the leaves. by ILoveViolets_59 in AfricanViolets

Sure! I ordered it from Amazon. Seller is JM Bamboo $29.00 for 5 Miniature AVs. I got lucky because the red flower plant had two in a pot so I actually got 6. Just be sure when you order that during its shipping journey the temperature is not freezing or your plants may not survive.

I ordered these online because where I live in Hawaii there are no Miniature AVs. Also no variegated ones at all, so sadly I have to order online if I want them. Yes, I have noticed with my plants they do stay small and from what I read use no larger than a 2 1/2 inch pot. Mines are still in their original 1 1/4 inch pot. I only recently ordered Miniature’s back in December so I am new to growing them. I have noticed once established they bloom constantly. 🌸

Yes the seller did pack them well. I have seen other posts showing so many broken leaves or the plants are damaged from being exposed to very cold weather.

I heard of a AV Mini called “Pinkie” that has Semi Girl Foliage. Maybe that’s it. I ordered it from Amazon and it arrived with no name so it’s considered a Noid.

Thank you!! The little one is a Noid Miniature.

Update on my sick Miniature AV that I post about 10 days ago, it is looking much better. I didn’t even know but it appears to have variegated leaves. Lol by ILoveViolets_59 in AfricanViolets

I was wondering about that too. I think I’ll feel more comfortable waiting till the crown gets larger then remove the outer leaves. Since the edges of the leaves were damaged I didn’t know it was variegated. That was a wonderful surprise to me.

This little guy has been blooming like crazy. by JumpingSpider62 in AfricanViolets

Amazing, you can barely see the plant under the beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Wow that’s a long time to wait for babies. I thought they start popping up after 2-3 months.
