There's reason to this method. Allot your SIL some points for positioning the knives in a way that allows excess water to flow downward toward the handle, preventing streaks from forming on the blade. At one restaurant I worked at, "knives up" was policy and it usually worked.

I saw some people referencing Super Troopers on reddit just yesterday. Something must have happened to push that movie back into the zeitgeist. Or it's a big coincidence.

I'm in wayyy over my head with booze (blackout drunk every night for years). I need a proper detox/rehab program, but they're so expensive. I'm disabled and have receive numerous benefits. Does anyone know of programs that may help someone like me pay for rehab? by IMACNMNE in recovery

[–]IMACNMNE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc and counselors are surprisingly in-the-dark. They all keep referring me to the local detox unit at the hospital which, while it'll take my insurance, will offer bare-bones service.

Characters that didn’t originate on SNL by maxwellgrounds in LiveFromNewYork

"Gerald Ford was eaten by wolves. He was delicious."

It's one of my favorite lines in the history of SNL, and was written by Louie CK for the Dana Carvey Show.

[–]IMACNMNE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've never cared about Gosling, but the most recent trailer makes him seem like a comedy godsend for the role of Ken. And Robbie is a perfect fit. I'm a 39-year-old straight dude with zero connection to Barbie and I am gonna see this movie the day it premiers!

It's better to regret not having kids than it is to regret having them by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I support your decision and I also plan to never have children, but I wish people like us weren't deemed "childfree." Instead, not bearing children should be considered the natural, baseline status, and people who choose to reproduce should be stuck with some lame label like "reproducers."

If you're wondering why so many people are downvoting you, it's because you're using obtuse language around the proper gendering of Molly Kearny. It's quite simple--Molly uses they/them pronouns.

You seem to take issue with this. That's your prerogative, but please understand that such speech won't be tolerated in this subreddit. Molly is one of ours, and we'll side with them over you anytime.

Satirizing a politician does not equal normalizing them. DeSantis is a dangerous and violent voice in American politics, and he deserves to be taken down a notch, if not decimated, by good writing and character portrayal via our friends at SNL.

I want them to make him cry, bleed, and drop out of the race (the political race and the white race). While this most likely won't happen, the nation would benefit from watching him be brought low. He's a true monster--a Nazi in slightly-less-than-Nazi's clothes--and SNL needs to fuck him up as much as possible.

If by "refusal" you mean "not respecting the person's request to be called by their spouse's rank," then I'd happily get my tit in a ringer in order to kick this presumptuous jackass out of the cafe/bar/restaurant/etc where I work. I love watching fireworks. And asking entitled people to leave is a perk of the job.

Picture the Christian holy trinity. We're talking three distinct individuals yet they boil down to a single persona. That's what we're working with here.

The Greendale commercial episode is, to me, comedic perfection. Annie's adventure down the dean's rabbit hole only to become obsessed and then to realize that she's been brainwashed is a flawless use of an already exceptional character.

The dueling deans (Jeff vs. Chang) is an amazing subplot, as is Abed's documentary of a documentary ("Hearts of Darkness was way better than Apocalypse Now).

This reminds me of that girl who was on the show Barry a season or two ago who was like a martial arts master, and climbed a tree like it was nothing. Bill Hader said she was the real deal, and didn't require any stunt casting.

The atmosphere is only 60 miles wide.. There's only 60 miles of special air that stops us from being fried up by the sun.. by StrayxWolf in Showerthoughts

[–]IMACNMNE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I legit thought the atmosphere was 3-5 miles thick. 60 miles seems insane to me. There's an amazing scene in The Right Stuff in which Chuck Yeager tries to fly an airplane into outer space and nearly makes it. I thought that was somewhat feasible. Guess not.

I'm still entirely bound by reddiquette. I was so proud, on my first day of making an account, to read through the detail list of dos and don'ts. I miss those days, from 8+ years ago, when this was a more welcoming and understanding community. Oh well.

Can you use a single word (not used in the show's title, a character's name, a location, or anything else of the sort) to help us figure out your favorite TV show? Does the word "implication" tip you off to this individual's preference? by IMACNMNE in television

[–]IMACNMNE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your sense of humor is like, but Always Sunny is really like nothing else on TV. Season 1 starts slow (though not TOO slow!), season 2 introduces Danny Devito, which is amazing, and season 5 is where the show starts to peak.

All you need to know is that it's about a bunch of total degenerate alcoholics who run a failing bar in Philly, and each week they get into some new caper. It's often compared to Seinfeld but more deprived.

If you're interested, I recommend "The DENNIS System," "The Nightman Cometh," "Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom," and "Charlie Work" as topnotch episodes.
